It might... but it might not.  ClearCase includes a kernel module (which
implements a new type of filesystem), and they go to great lengths to
make sure that the module has the best chance of working properly (it
would suck if your source code control system was not reliable...)  To
do this they carefully check various critical kernel data structures for
size and content and if any of that changes, the module will refuse to
load.

In my experience it's not at all uncommon for even a single kernel
version increment (2.4.18 to 2.4.19 or whatever) to fail this check.
And, I've also seen patches (2.4.n-X to 2.4.n-Y) which also cause it to
fail.


IBM/Rational promises support for all official Red Hat kernels (and
official Red Hat kernel updates) no later than 90 days from when they
are released, FWIW.
