where did you get the packages. Last time I installed apt-rpm from
freshrpms.net, it went off without a hitch. A quick search on these files
at rpmfind.net gives the package
The RPM package management system.RedHat-7.3 for i386
rpm-4.0.4-7x.18.i386.rpm
Go grab that one.

In /etc/log.d there is a file called logwatch.conf. In that file, there is a line that
reads:
MailTo =
You can set that to another user@domain if you would like to... Then, go to
/etc/init.d and restart syslog.
That should do it.

I have been trying to install apt-get (RH7.2) using the following rpms.
This is a new install with no updates from RH.

I have noticed a utility called LogWatch that periodically sends mail to

and username.
I would also like all emails redirected through a different mail server.

Folks use mii-tool. It's mii-diag, but user friendly. It's in the
net-tools package under redhat.
[root@flory iso]# whichrpm mii-tool
net-tools-1.60-4
[root@flory iso]# mii-tool eth0
eth0: 100 Mbit, full duplex, link ok
[root@flory iso]# mii-tool --help
usage: mii-tool [-VvRrwl] [-A media,...
Ok, I think I got it to work, or communicate anyway, but all I see is
[[[pp][][]BBB][][[]]
Looks like a COM port config issue.. You guys got me on the right track, and I
appreciate it. I think I can figure out the rest (However, any additional help is
always welcome :-P)
Thanks again

The original AT&T Unix by Thompson and Ritchie is around 30 years old.
"BSD" as in the Berkeley Software Distribution is 25.
You keep referring to FreeBSD, but that's just one of several flavors
of BSD. FreeBSD is
Yes, that is correct. I understand all the facets of Serial, just not sure how to hook
it up to a Linux system. The reason I wanted to do this is so I can get console access
to my server in-case my network goes down and I have to restart the server or a

I will continue reading.

mii-diag. Simple c program that you can compile yourself. I found it here...
ftp://ftp.scyld.com/pub/diag/mii-diag.c
I can set this now, just need to figure out what the setting is for /etc/modules.conf
Thanks
