I have been trying to optimize the compilation
of a new kernel for my celeron 300a system. Whenever
I try these CFLAGS it outright fails to compile...
WHY??? How do I get the damn thing to fully optimize
for my system? I am trying to get it compiled for a
pentium-pro based system, NOT a 386/486

I was running RH 5.2 on all my systems (two workstations and the Toshiba
notebook) and upgraded to the 6.x distribution. Many working things broke
after the upgrade, and I'd like insight and help in fixing them.
Let me address the portable issues first. The machine is a Toshiba Portege

It appears to work without /boot since
all diskspace is raid:ed and it boots perfectly with
the rh6.1(2.2.12)kernel. The problem
appears when i build a NEW kernel.
THAT kernel won't boot from raid
but the "original" will.
the ramdisk appears to be the solution since it
