Thanks, I was meaning to do that next. No change with audio on 4.7
kernel (1 of 3 hw support bugs problems did get fixed with 4.7 though).
It is likely this is not pulseaudio problem, as if pulseaudio does not
detect any sound hardware the problem is likely at a lower level.

but MBA running Ubuntu 14.04 is using about 50% of power that needs to
be delivered for 16.04. (minumum 10W power draw vs minimum ~5W draw).

I get the same problem running kubuntu after upgrading from 14.04 to
16.04.1. I normally have 2 USB mice connected, but this version of
Kubuntu locks up as soon as I try to use the second mouse, so there were
problems with first boot after the upgrade. It has also locked once with
only one mouse. O
I'm having this same issue with ubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso
The md5 of the downloaded file is correct, and if I make an iso of the
recorded dvd the md5 matches also. Furthermore, if I mount the iso on
linux and check the md5sums inside the iso, they all match.

I moved my home folder to a btrfs partition and now it takes my computer an
extra minute or so to boot (during which it's just sitting on a Ubuntu-purple
blank screen, no indicator). Time to change the partition to ext4...

I withdraw my complaint. I updated the bios and installed a new OS
partition and this new kernel works much better now. I fear that I had
tried to adjust miscellaneous settings so much in the past 2 months that
my fixes were blocking the beneficial changes. I had put a blacklist
line on
