I'm not sure if this would work, edit your /etc/fstab and add your
partitions there:
LABEL=/home/home ext3defaults1 1
LABEL=/tmp /tmpext3defaults1 1
If you're wondering where is your /home right now my guess is that
you're using your root partition. Do

heya,
have you tried putting the module name in /etc/modules? all the modules
listed in that file get modprobed automatically at bootup. i'm not sure
why you'd have to do that if you installed the Debian Way, iirc i didn't
need to do that on my (2.4.19 and 2.4.18) boxen.

We have NVIDIA working now under linux 2.4.20 as I described in an

Quick question. I have been slowly (but surely) fine tuning my install

Should I upgrade to XFree86 4.

I am not sure. I thought I had the same problem you
reported when I was (still am) trying to install a USB-based
external drive on my system. It turned out that my practice of

Hi
I have an problem with configuring IPv6. See this

Why the system sends me this message "No support
for INET6 on this system".

Update:
Ok, I've installed the kernel in /usr/src/ untarred them then do:
make oldconfig && make dep && make-kpkg modules
I then went back to my nvidia drivers and got another error, at least
it's different this time:
-

I presently have 2 unknowns I am trying to resolve. I have
installed USB support and the USB mass-storage driver on a Debian system
using the 2.4.19 kernel. The USB stuff installs with no complaint at all.
I power up the Maxtor and boot the system but no new drives show up

According to the documentation for USB, the drives that
should show up on your system are /dev/sda or /dev/sdx if you
already have a /dev/sda or /dev/sdb, etc.
In other words, the USB devs should start at one above any pre
existing SCSI disks.
This means that your /dev/scd0 should

I'm looking for packages that I might use to create CDs containing a
slideshow of photos that I could play on my DVD player. (I'm not
referring to the CD burning aspects, but how to create what I would burn
on the CD. I use xcdroast for the former). As a complete beginner with

You guys are good! Quick answers to my questions. So, of course, I
have another one.
I find that after a period of inactivity in either root or a user
account, I get logged off Enlightenment. (This is distinct from the
screen blanker that activates after 10 minutes of inactivity, but which

Is this what you're looking for?
"update-rc.d my_script start XX 2 3 4 5 . stop YY 0 1 6 ."
Notice the dots. Place your script in /etc/init.d/ and the rest is
obvious. 0..6 are runlevels, XX and YY simply the order (SXX and KYY).
Hope this helps!

Hi All,
Under debian is there a nice console based app to do the equivalent of ln

Many thanks to Colin Watson. After apt-get install libncurses5-dev, make
menuconfig now works fine.
