Sorry I did not notice that bug before I submitted mine, I guess the

I now slightly updated my patch (simpler cmd, neater error message
Addendum: I also tested it with a new user account with an empty home
directory (so no possible stale configuration).
Connecting manually with wpa_supplicant (with a prior invoke-rc.d
network-manager stop, of course) also works.

I'm running sid and had this problem for a while now. I recompiled exim4 and
installed the newly built exim4-daemon-heavy_4.77-1_armel.deb. It works fine
now.
