packages. It should shrink the size of binary packages noticable[1].
To switch to xz, just call dh_builddeb -- -Zxz instead of plain
dh_builddeb when using debhelper
My guess is, that modprobe writes this message to the console.
Try to add -s to the modprobe call in 20-hwdetect.source.
