Well, `clit` does exist, but outside the main Debian archive.
Thank you Stephen. Blacklisting both snd-cs4232 AND snd-wavefront is indeed
key. I now have working sound using the original Lenny kernel :-)
Below are the contents of the file I created
(/etc/modprobe.d/crystal_4237b_fix) to achieve this. I consider this an
appropriate workaround for the bug;

Packaging this has been really difficult and needs cooperation from the clips
package maintainer (jfs)
Here's a mail I sent him (although I didn't get a reply at the time):

I'm putting this back as RFP. This tool has since been superseded by

Hi,
i created a screencast using different tools and noticed that ffmpegs qtrle
produces real huges files. This seems to be also a problem when reencoding
qtrle files produced by ffmpeg to qtrle again. As example I created a small
cast.
What is the point of installing bacula-fd and then not running it?
That just doesn't make sense to me.

I believe that bacula-fd should be enabled or disabled using the
/etc/default/bacula-fd file. I'm submitting a patch to
/etc/init.d/bacula-fd to include this.
