i think i just faced this bug or a similar one on a dell inspiron 510m
after a fresh sarge install. totem video thread was working fine, but no
sound and a crash dialog was opening after 2 seconds or so. the problem

I believe that this is indeed a breaking change in freetypes api, meaning just
recompiling makes gnustep-back incompatible with older freetypes. This is not
a problem in it self, but you should probably add a depends on libfreetype6

licensing issues (see #248853 for details).
I opened this ITP after the 5250 code was removed from the upstream
package. Also, I'm waiting for a clarification about one of the
