[Bug 289648] Re: evolution message filter sender is empty matches everything !!!
In which language in the world (I mean human language not programming language because this is human facing functionality) does expression value IS empty actually mean value is anything? And even if there is, isn't it better to change this functionality to way it can't create confusion? e.g. to add options EMPTY and ANYTHING and to forbid to leave empty free text field if IS is used? -- evolution message filter sender is empty matches everything !!! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 376383] [NEW] plasma crash on dual monitor change
Public bug reported: HI, I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 with KDE4. it was new installation of Kubuntu Jaunty. I running on Sony Vaio laptop with nvidia card. Using external monitors, Fujitsu in the office and Samsung at home. So there are 3 cases. 1. LCD only, 2. LCD + samsung, twinview, 3. LCD + Fugitsu , twinview When I work at home and next day go to office and I have xorg.conf configured to use case 2 and I startup my laptop connected to Fugitsu monitor, I can see login screen addapted to wrong resolution which is not much of trouble but after loggin in my desktop and panels don't come up, I get just blackj background and cursor. switching between consoles work also running any programs using alt+F2 is ok.. So I assume plasma can't get up. There is no plasma in process list so when I run it manually as my user it does produce attached output and doesn;t come up. If I run plasma by superuser ti comes up OK, just everything I run is under root and I don't want that obviously. What I have to do everytime I boot up system with different monitor attached or even with no monitor attached is to go to console and copy appropriate xorg.conf file and restart xserver. What I would expect ideally would be remembering configuration for particular monitor attached and if not that at least plasma to work and possibility to change settings using nvidia-settings. Right now I can change configuration using nvidia settings but plasma doesn't come up and I have to save xorg.cong and restart xserver. This used to work this way in gnome on 8.10 I used before. plasma output on manual run as normal user: (5242)/ checkComposite: Plasma has an argb visual 0x1d99380 58720257 (5242)/ checkComposite: Plasma is COMPOSITE-less on 0x1d8d620 QLayout: Attempting to add QLayout "" to QWidget "", which already has a layout plasma(5243) Solid::Control::ManagerBasePrivate::loadBackend: Backend loaded: "NetworkManager 0.7" plasma(5243) NetworkManagerApplet::NetworkManagerApplet: 423 plasma(5243) NetworkManagerApplet::NetworkManagerApplet: true "" "" plasma(5243) NetworkManagerSettings::NetworkManagerSettings: "org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings" true plasma(5243) NetworkManagerSettings::NetworkManagerSettings: "org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerSystemSettings" true plasma(5243) NetworkManagerSettings::initConnections: "/org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/2" plasma(5243) RemoteConnection::RemoteConnection: "802-3-ethernet" plasma(5243) NetworkManagerSettings::initConnections: "/org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/1" plasma(5243) RemoteConnection::RemoteConnection: "802-3-ethernet" plasma(5243) NetworkManagerSettings::initConnections: "/org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/0" plasma(5243) RemoteConnection::RemoteConnection: "802-3-ethernet" plasma(5243) NetworkManagerSettings::initConnections: "/org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/3" plasma(5243) RemoteConnection::RemoteConnection: "802-3-ethernet" plasma(5243) Controls::setDisplayedButtons: Minimum size before changing buttons: QSizeF(0, 0) plasma(5243) Controls::setDisplayedButtons: Layout: QObject(0x0) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button minimum size: QSizeF(18, 18) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button preferred size: QSizeF(50, 50) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button minimum size: QSizeF(18, 18) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button preferred size: QSizeF(50, 50) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button minimum size: QSizeF(18, 18) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button preferred size: QSizeF(50, 50) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button minimum size: QSizeF(18, 18) plasma(5243) showHideButton: Button preferred size: QSizeF(50, 50) plasma(5243) Controls::setDisplayedButtons: Minimum size after changing buttons: QSizeF(92, 26) TypeError: invalid result type from PythonAppletScript.shape() TypeError: invalid result type from PythonAppletScript.shape() Object::connect: Attempt to bind non-signal TaskManager::TaskGroup::editRequest() plasma(5243) Solid::Control::ManagerBasePrivate::loadBackend: Backend loaded: "HAL-Power" QG

HI, I have exactly the same problem on kubuntu 9.04. Re: [Bug 289648] Re: evolution message filter sender is empty matches everything !!!
Hi, * Is this reproducible? * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Yes it is, just create new filter, chose 'sender' 'is' and leave value box empty Action chose something like mark label importance. I did set another action to stop processing other filters, don't know if that is making any difference. Press ctrl + y on any selected message with regular sender. It will mark it with label. Re: [Bug 289648] Re: evolution message filter sender is empty matches everything !!!
Hm.. I would expect to match only emails where sender is empty. This is what I understand it like if I leave box empty. I would understand if it wouldn't match some empty cases cos 'empty' in programming world may have different forms. In any case I wouldn't expect to match something meaning any even hidden character when I say is equal '' (nothing defined). [Bug 246261] Re: Evolution "receiving" old emails
Hi, Evolution 2.24.2, Ubuntu 8.10, 2.6.27-9-generic It happened to me twice. Along with other reported bug that evolution does not delete messages from server after specified number of days for me it resulted in downloading again about 32000 emails from my account. I don't know how to reproduce it. It just happened second time in about 3 months period. Only strange thing I experience that may be related is that I'm using VPN from time to time, and it may happen that sometimes I turn it on or off when evolution is downloading. I realized that if connection is broken in some circumstances fetching of emails form server hangs. Consequently pidgin hangs as well. Both programs stay in not responding state and I have to kill all evolution related processes and start it again to get it working. I'm not sure if this is related to messages being downloaded again. Hanging issue has happened for me many times and old emails issue only twice. But as I said this is only strange thing happening with evolution for me that I can think of. -- Evolution "receiving" old emails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246261 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 329339] Re: russian layout disappears randomly after some time
HI, I'm using jaunty. I experience very same problem with Slovakian keyboard layout. I have got two layouts, 1. USA (default) and 2. Slovakia Qwerty After boot up all is ok, I can switch between layouts normally. But at some point (happens randomly) I can't switch layout anymore. When I click on keyboard applet icon in tray it shows in keyboard groups only USA, normally it shows both layouts. When I go to keyboard preferences my Slovakian layout is still there. I can make it default, I can hit button to apply system-wide but nothing happens. Only way how I can get it back is to remove it from list and re-add it back, then I can see it and use it again. But it keeps happening over and over again. [Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow
2.6.31-16-generic #53-Ubuntu x86_64 Did not fix anything for me ;o( I did some further testing and the problem appears to be related to per file transfer and also to USB stick you use. I did test with 1. Kingston micro SD HC 8GB memory card using with mini usb card reader. trasfered about 500MB of 700MB file then speed decreased to very very low almost stopped. 2. Kingston 8GB Traveler USB memory stick Transfered 700 MB file quickly but in the very end it took 2 minutes to complete transfer even it shown all 700MB copied. Then I tried 3 files of 700MB each in batch copy. And result is interesting. Overall speed was linearly decreasing from about 20MB/s to final 4 MB/s. After each about 700MB of transfer it got in about 2 minutes wait. Like copied 700, then progress didn't move for a while at all, copied another 700MB and then progress stayed at 1.4GB for another about 2-3 minutes. then last file transfered and waited again at the end. I think the overall speed (I guess measured as average) may be decreasing as result of waiting at the end of file transfer. [Bug 681445] Re: wireless connection unstable
Sorry I was possibly unclear in section about other OS. What I meant was that I tested connection to the same router from other OSes to eliminate possibility of router causing this. Also tried native Mac OS to try out the connection with same inbuild wifi card. The only faulty scenario is Ubuntu + inbuilt broadcom card. All other combinations are correct. ** Changed in: wl (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/681445 Title: wireless connection unstable -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 659154] [NEW] intel video external monitor resolution problem
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Hi, I'm using external monitor. It is detected correctly including resolution modes. As default both monitor shows same resolution as internal LCD native one and mirror mode is active. However when I uncheck mirror mode and change resolution of external monitor using preferences/monitors utility to anything else, external monitor shows only portion of screen in left upper corner about same size as it was showing before change, rest of the screen is black. Resolution was changed because I can see smaller icons and bottom tool-bar is not visible. It just shows part of it. The main laptop LCD shows nothing at all if no mirror mode is active. I tried also video driver from ppa:glasen/intel-driver. I could change resolution of both monitors independently, but windows of all open programs appeared as they were behind transparent shadow making them very difficult to see. Only desktop, panels and gnome-terminal were clear. All other programs were shadowed. Is there some other driver I could use or workaround for any of these 2 drivers? I spent ages to fight this thinking its software problem. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- constant crackling from built in speakers sony vaio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 607428] [NEW] constant crackling from built in speakers sony vaio
Public bug reported: I can hear constant crackling from built in speakers. Changing output/input device to USB headphones nor muting all devices help to stop it. When I play sound (any video or audio player) crackling intercepts the sound but only if output device is built in audio. If output device is USB headphones, sounds plays smoothly but cracking continues on built in speakers. I read and tried several option or fixes suggested by people on forums however nothing seems to help. My laptop is Sony Vaio VGN-SZ4vWN/X. Crackling is in frequency (slightly less) and randomness like it was used as telegraph machine. Although not too loud you can imagine how annoying this is.
