[Bug 149659] gutsy power manager
Public bug reported: Hi My system is running ubuntu gutsy gibbon on a toshiba laptop. Previously when I had dapper my battery used to run for 3 hours the when I had feisty it ran for 2 1/2 hrs but after the upgrade with the same number of packages installed it runs only for 1 1/2 hrs. [Bug 443080] Re: boot hangs during forced fsck
So here is the party ! - I get an error message : "fsck from util-linux-ng 2.16 /dev/sda6 has been mounted 27 times without being checked. check forced" Ernst can you please elaborate on this post and give steps on how to restore the system using a Jaunty CD. Well, I restored my machine by booting with an USB stick and then chrooting into the affected install. There, I could easily downgrade the package. However, that's not an 'easy' way: you have to know how to chroot, you have to have a LiveUSB or -CD, etc. It would be great if someone could provide detailed steps for restoration of the system. -- boot hangs during forced fsck https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/443080 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 443080] Re: ecryptfs mount does not support -f (fake mount)
My system was restored and I was running Karmic for a week. Now, the same problem arises. I again tried to follow your steps (below). Can you please tell me what should be removed or what causes the problem that should be removed when I'm in the problematic install (mount from disk - Solution mentioned by Ernst) I don't think there are packages that provide faulty repos. Also, 'sudo gedit /ubuntu/ etc/apt/ sources. list' command opens a blank file. Boot with the liveCD/USB and do: sudo -s -H mkdir /media/ubuntu # system partition: mount /dev/sda5 /media/ubuntu #/home partition: mount /dev/sda7 /media/ubuntu/home mount --bind /dev/ /media/ubuntu/dev mount --bind /dev/pts /media/ ubuntu/ dev/pts mount --bind /dev/shm /media/ ubuntu/ dev/shm chroot /media/ubuntu mount -t sysfs sysfs /sys mount -t proc proc /proc dhclient Now, you are in your problematic install. You can use "sudo aptitude remove ." to remove a certain package, "sudo nano /etc/apt/ sources. list" to remove repositories who provide faulty packages (or sudo gedit /ubuntu/ etc/apt/ sources. list on the host, which is more convenient for most people), "sudo aptitude install /karmic to downgrade a package to karmic. -- ecryptfs mount does not support -f (fake mount) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/443080 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Motherboard ASUS M2A VM with chipset AMD 690 G Seagate sata harddisk. I had this problem when installing intrepid live cd where it used to read hard disk instead of the cd rom drive as if confused which device is which. I had to give additional boot options in live cd all-generic-ide and pci=nomsi. Re: [Bug 269340] Re: Not able to connect to network
ok so here it is. I figured out the problem. I was able to ping any IP (be it my local network or google's ip) but not able to ping any site by name (not even my local network or google.com). In the connection information dialog (In the network manager GUI) I could see the Primary, Secondary DNS and all other stuff set up correctly, still could not ping any website with the name. I changed the resolve.conf file and added my nameserver manually and it's working now. I am not a network expert, so don't have much Idea on what is wrong. Re: [Bug 269340] Re: Not able to connect to network
I don't have that box with me right now, need to check as soon as I get that box. but I would like to give you little more details perhaps it will help you. I updated the system at home, where I have a wireless internet router (modem+wireless router). when the system was updated my resolv.conf file was renamed to resolv.conf.old (and this file had all my nameservers in it.). The new resolv.conf file had only one nameserver 192.168.1.1 which is my wireless router's ip. I took the same laptop to my office and tried to connect and you already know couldn't get the proper network setup. In my office I couldn't get the nameservers updated in resolv.conf file (which are obviously different from 192.168.1.1). I could very well see the nameserver information in the network manager gui and all were correct. So the new bug summary is correct it should be a problem in updating the information in resolv.conf. It retrived the correct information related to my network so there seems no problem there. All the network stuff was working for me earlier so idealy I should have all the required packages installed. If anything got removed during the update then I am not sure. I will let you know about the package (resolvconf) as soon I get the same box.
