I have to say, this is totally false information given by the devs that old behaviour can be restored with the gconf hack.
In previous versions, every single time on starting the system, the package manager used to start on its own - visible in the notification area with a grey star and on passing the mouse over it, it would say a package manager is working. If updates were available, the icon would glow and if not , it would go away on its own. Now it does not happen. You have altered the time at which update manager checks automatically for updates . All messed up now. -- Update manager fix to get back old behaviour doesnt work on jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373701 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
