Following the suggestion from Smurphy I've added the 'Option "ForceEnablePipeA"' line in the xorg.conf . This evening the screen had the alert window below: Ubuntu is Running in low-graphics mode The following error was encountered. You may need to update your configuration to solve this. (EE) intel(0): underrun on pipe B! the next few windows enabled me to save a backup log, that I attach here, and to revert the modification to xorg.conf . Gee, this bug is slimy... Same configuration for me, and same problem since Hardy. Video Streaming (Youtube also, right?) ease the flickering and the crash. Well, when the error pops out the system has freshly started, but the network connection is ok at that time, at least it seems so. I will try to find if the error comes out on temporary network failure, or some timeout on startup procedure. I haven't found trace on system registry. At this time the problem has appeared a couple of times, slightly after an annoying screen saver problem. I had the same problem, the Places menu was corrupted during the upgrade from 8.04 and 8.10 alfa 10 and try to open with F-Spot. I have searched a little for the right MIME to change, then I've found your message in ubuntu forum, and restored the right line in local mimeapps.list. Thanks a lot, it became really boring... Same for me. It seems not properly a full screen window in F11 style, but clicking F11 twice restore the window. Perhaps have you Compiz enabled, like me? Public bug reported: hello all i just installed kubuntu 9.10 (karmic koala B4 with recent updates) and i wanted to test nvidia driver Activated the driver v185 with jockey-kde "hardware-drivers" and did a reboot. on boot i can see the kubuntu logo for a few seconds then the screen flickered a bit printing some white little square and then got completely black. i cannot activate numlock led anymore and neither do a remote ssh or telnet. my hw config Intel Quad core on Asus P5Q motherboard with 4GB RAM video : 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G92 [GeForce 9800 GTX] (rev a2) All i can do is reboot in recovery mode and replace xorg.conf's nvidia by nv driver. Happy new year and thanks for the reply, the issue occours with both, touchpad and mouse, even xhanging mouse port, the issue remains.I'll try to update, but not now, I'll have to check that all drivers working for my lenovo yoga 3 pro first. It wasn't that easy to have all devices running. Now, working from home I need the PC running. A faster workaround was perfect, but I'll see with the update. The BUG # 1347638 is not solved.
Still it is possible to assign it ("ThinkVantage") to a shortcut in the
keyboard settings dialog, where it
shows up as "Launch1", but it does not work - they shortcut is not activated by
hitting that key.

I have the same problem. I confirm the freezing and the error -108. But isn't modemanager, is a bug of kernel next to 2.6.35-32-generic. In my 12.04 system, i solved installing the kernel version cited above. I have the same problem, but i have understand this: The touchscreen don't stop working, but it waits for a multi-touch gesture, and occurs only when pressed while you press with one finger on the screen, also press the second finger. At this time the device waits for multitouch gestures, and does not recognize that the fingers were lifted from the touch screen. Try running ginn to understand the problem. If you are running a multi-touch gesture by pressing it with both fingers, the tablet does not bug throughout the session. For me it would be very important to solve, I would not explain the school, which must be executed before a gesture multitouch otherwise ubuntu hangs and becomes unusable. You have made some improvement? Not fixed either, and very annoying. Clicking on title bar of the wrongly maximized window fix it until next maximize. When the window is wrong, the mouse behave as it would be maximized right, so clicks on close button, for example, must be displaced to work. As of 91.7.0esr the issue is still there. Focussing the address bar which has the URL selected doesn't copy the content to primary selection. Using the triple click workaround is different from all other Linux and Gtk applications. It is also different from browsers like Palemoon. I have had the same problem with the Italian Apple keyboard connected to a Macbook laptop: "|\" key (above Tab) swapped with "<>" (right of shift). This is solved in gnome by switching on "Swap keycodes of two keys when Mac keyboards are misdetected by kernel", but in that case it is the keyboard on the laptop that does not work correctly.
