[Bug 379914] [NEW] adsl setup with pppoeconf ist not working properly anymore.
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 9.04, the DSL modem setup isn't working properly. First setup with pppoeconf is running ok, but after the updates of Ubuntu 9.04, pppoeconf suddenly failed and stopped and it's impossible for newbies to restart the Internet access. [Bug 180019] Live/Install CD busybox tar -> invalid Tar magic error on a valid Gnu Tar Archiv

[Bug 207467] Re: postgre not working because user postgres does not exist
I got some more infos on that, as i am facing this problem too. I am using winbindd and theres already a postgres user in the domain, so getent passwd postgres does deliver already an accout. The problem now is, that the "winbind" entries does not persist over time (i have to refresh data with "id user" from time to time to get groups and users back, as they get forgotten). I'll going to file a bug for that problem, but in this case, the user does not exists and u get this error. Doing a lookup after the non local user account and redoing the command should success than. In case of the user already exists theres another problem, the creation of the group does fail and the packet can not be installed, you have to manually add the group and repair it to succeed. -- postgre not working because user postgres does not exist https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207467 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 207791] [NEW] winbind forgets uid/name gid/name mappings in regulary periods
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: winbind Version 3.0.26a-1ubuntu2.3, Gutsy. I am memeber of a domain, wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g are displaying users+groups fine. nssswitch isconfigured lile that: passwd: compat winbind group: compat winbind shadow: compat winbind Using getent passwd "domainuser" does succeed, id "domainuser" too. However, after 10 minutes (this times varies), doing a "ls -l file" does only show the uid of the user/group, the names are non persistent anymore. I than have to do a manual refresh with getent or id (they succeed the first time) and it works again, username + groupnames are there. Thats really annoying because many tools and daemons are relying on persistent users/groups, not only the uids. Don't know why they get lost from time to time, but it happens everytime. Using nscd does not help. My workaround for now is to have a local copy in /etc/passwd, but not shadow, to have a persistent uid/name mapping. smb.conf winbind parameters: winbind cache time = 10 winbind refresh tickets = true winbind enum users = yes winbind enum groups = yes winbind use default domain = Yes winbind offline logon = true Any things i can do, tweaks, changes or something? kind regards Torsten ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- winbind forgets uid/name gid/name mappings in regulary periods https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207791 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 207779] Re: postgresql-8.3 cluster locale should not be utf8
Its not about not using utf8 as default for databases, but not for the locale. If you use e.g. de_DE.UTF8 as locale and issue this command: createdb XX -E LATIN1 you get: encoding LATIN1 does not match server's locale de_DE.UTF-8 DETAIL: The server's LC_CTYPE setting requires encoding UTF8. This is what i mean with prevents, you can't create another database on this cluster with latin1 charset like you suggested. You are forced to utf8, even if you got some old databases which have to use latin1. Using posix or c as locale does not show this problem. I knew how to create a new one (take initdb script, set encoding, locale + path and its ready). But upgrading from existing installations might fail here and behaves not like previous versions (look at debian bug report). Found some similar debian thread: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=472930 Hope this helps. -- postgresql-8.3 cluster locale should not be utf8 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207779 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1802691] Re: Slow send speed with Intel I219-V on Ubuntu 18.04.1
I also encountered network performance degradation on my server, however I'm not running Ubuntu but Debian with a self-compiled kernel. With bisecting the kernel, I could track this issue down to this commit between 4.14.2 and 4.14.3: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/?id=0f478f25d50cb6464678284a13f514fefc16e271 I was tempted to undo this change in my kernel, however this change works around a bug in the I219 adapter and I didn't want to end up with an unstable system. Related to this bug I read about TCP segmentation offload and changed tso and gso values with ethtool. Eventually "ethtool -K enp0s31f6 tso" off did the trick for me and network performance is back to normal. You might have to change the name of enp0s31f6 to the name of your Ethernet adapter or play with on/off values for tso and gso. In order to persist this setting after a reboot, I created a udev rule that calls ethtool, maybe this option works for you as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1802691 Title: Slow send speed with Intel I219-V on Ubuntu 18.04.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1802691/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

But you could supply empty templates. It was not clear to me wether to configure or patch first, and how to supply parameters to rules.source. So I did $ nohup nice make -f rules.source patch and after I removed rules related to ADA and D all patches succeeded. [Bug 72872] Re: Users do not have permission to open files in DVDs burnt in a Mac
This problem has also bugged me, albeit on Debian. And I spent an hour or two to do it "the right way" and get UDF (in that case) to ignore the permissions on the filesystem. After playing with mount options to no avail, I finally gave up and became root to get the discs content copied. I think it really sucks to enter an optical disc and be unable to read it because of permission problems. There should be a mount option to ignore permissions for udf and iso9660 and this should be enabled per default in fstab. The thing is: This will probably need kernel changes... -- Users do not have permission to open files in DVDs burnt in a Mac https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/72872 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 394242] [NEW] usetex: wrong spacing

Now, axes.set_ylabel(ur"I in mA/cm$^2$") causes the $^2$ being placed above the "m", so the spacing is incorrect. I can repair it by inserting \kern0.3em after the "cm". [Bug 368397] [NEW] After closing a dialog, a switch to another full-screen application occurs
Public bug reported: Situation: Application A is in full-screen mode and not minimized. However, I work with application B, which is not full-screen but in the foreground. B opens a dialog window. I close this dialog (e.g. by clicking on the "Ok" or "Yes" button). Now, Ubuntu does not switch back to the main window of B but to A. Thus, I have to use Alt-Tab to be able to resume my work with B. [Bug 293943] [NEW] acpi-support broken on asus models
Public bug reported: Using my wlan key i can't get it on again - so i've looked deeper in the scripts and found following errors / wrong assumptions. The /etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-on does trigger on 005f, but this should be 005e. The /etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-off does trigger on 005e, but this should be 005f. So both events are "swapped" - at least on my P35 modell here (monitored using acpi_listen and asus_laptop modul). And the next things which breaks all is the state function setLEDAsusWireless. These function does only work if, and only if, the call to /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/wlan does control the LED - but thats not true for a P35/P35. Echoing 0 or 1 to this device, you are controling the real hardware kill switch, not only the led. This can be monitored by watching the rf_kill device and watching the state become "3" = hardware kill when echoing a 0 do the wlan device. So this call should never be done, because the led does itself "knows" if wlan is toggled on or off (if you don't use the softkill rf_kill variant - but from a hardware perspective this is true). The solution to me is - to completly comment out the script calls for now as it would break my wlan if i ever use this button - but that can't be a real solution. ** Affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- acpi-support broken on asus models https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 292364] [NEW] slapd init.d file fails to set -f or -F
Public bug reported: In the init.d slapd script, -f $SLAPD_CONF or -F $SLAPD_CONF is added to $SLAPD_OPTIONS only if $SLAPD_PIDFILE is the empty string. This is strange as SLAPD_PIDFILE is one of the variables that it is suggested that one could set in /etc/default/slapd.
