The problem relates to the newest linux-restricted-modules package ! The
problem is not that the package is not installed.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get install 
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic

linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe nvidia
FATAL: Error running install command for nvidia
