[Bug 277915] Re: XBox 360 Controller Automatically becomes mouse in Xorg
While I don't suffer the problem where any button press on the controller causes the XOrg to restart, I do get the problem where the left stick (#7 in this diagram http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3139/xbox360controllerwc0.jpg) acts as a mouse. I've tried jcalibrator and while it recognises my xbox 360 controller is connected, it can't get any input. I've attached my output of the "lspci -vvnn" command. [Bug 230260] [NEW] running nautilus in xfce4 causes problems
Public bug reported: Hi, This is a strange problem that I faced yesterday. I am running xfce4 on ubuntu hardy heron. I ran nautilus form the terminal. This brought up the gnome background and the nautilus file browser. Then when I logout from xfce4, I am no more able to run xfce4 again. I am using gdm as the login manager. If I use kdm instead of gdm then also it works, but with gdm it just gives a blue screen with a moveable cursor and thats it... Hi, I added /usr/lib/kde4/bin to the beginning of the /etc/environment . Now when I type konsole in kde3 in the Alt F2 Run dialaog, it does nothing. [Bug 433326] Re: maximum resolution: 800x600
Could this be of any help? (tormod) http://newyork.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8091551&postcount=1208 " Please RTFM thank you I am glad there are so many helpful people here and people willing to test out the latest development drivers. However there is a lot of misinformed and bad advice given in the forums. 1. Read random postings with a great portion of skepticism and caution 2. Be careful when posting information, at least take the time to look up information given in earlier posts and try to find official documentation Now, to the issues some people have with the latest -intel drivers from xorg-edgers: 1. It is all explained on the xorg-edgers PPA page 2. It has also been reported in launchpad #447181 (how I found this thread) 3. There is nothing wrong with the driver that needs to / will be fixed 4. The latest -intel drivers have dropped support for UMS (user mode setting) and only use KMS (kernel mode setting) so the kernel has to run with KMS enabled 5. The Jaunty kernel needs the "i915.modeset=1" boot option to enable KMS 6. Karmic kernels have KMS enabled by default. They also contain many fixes to the kernel part of the intel driver stack. I see that some people simply refuse to look up the PPA page (it is linked from the instructions in the first post) so I will explain: The xorg-edgers PPA tracks the work of the developers. It can be expected that it breaks for some users from time to time, since any developer can not test his changes on all hardware. You are providing this testing and it is highly appreciated. The idea is that you provide bug reports if something does not work. It is also expected that you know how to revert to the last working version in this case. [Bug 433326] Re: [i945g] maximum resolution: 800x600
There is some confusion associated with this bug. Firstly, when the bug applies, higher modes than 800x600 are simply not available. So, dfrevert's comment on 2009-10-18, does not apply to this bug because xrandr -s 1024x768 will give no such mode available. Secondly, this problem does not happen (at least didn't for me in two different monitors) if the monitor supports EDID (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_display_identification_data). That's why I think most people don't have THIS bug. Thidly, looking at Xorg log, it's clear that higher resolution modes are eliminated due to vertical refresh rates being out of range for an unknown monitor. Fourthly, I cannot confirm now, but as I recall, when I had this intel 945 card on a non EDID compatible monitor, even if I manually configured Xorg.conf with a "Monitor" section, specifying decent refresh rates, this would be ignored, and I would still be limited to low resolution. I'll confirm that as soon as possible. And if this is the case, then the issue is with the driver ignoring the Monitor section, even if EDID information is not available. Other than that, when the resolution is ok, X is well accelerated glxgears gives me 60fps on a Celeron Mobile 1.6Ghz with this board and user interface is smooth. [Bug 1453298]
Also affecting Debian Jessie's stock kernel, 3.16.0-4-amd64. I am running on a Thinkpad T430 with i5-3320M 2.6GHz Ivybridge CPU. Under sustained load, the whole computer will freeze (no ssh, no keyboard inputs, no nothing), within a period of 4 to 4.5 hours. Using YouTube or running any sort of video media will escalate the problem, however, it can freeze up randomly, between 30 mins to over 6 hours. After compiling kernel 3.15.10 from kernel.org, the issue is gone. This seems to have started only from version 3.16 and onwards. Version 4.2.3, the latest kernel, STILL has not fixed this issue. Intel, please do something about this. Some people might have need for the latest kernel (I do not, at the moment, but I'd rather not stick with an outdated kernel). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453298 Title: Xubuntu freeze once a day To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1453298/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2099914] [NEW] cifs.upcall program in cifs-utils package incorrectly makes an upcall to different namespace in case of container environments
Public bug reported: In some cases, the cifs.upcall program from the cifs-utils package makes an upcall to the wrong namespace in containerized environments. Consider the following scenario: A CIFS/SMB file share is mounted on a host node using Kerberos authentication. During the session setup phase, the Linux kernel's cifs.ko module makes an upcall to user space to retrieve the Kerberos service ticket from the credential cache. In typical (non-container) environments, this process works correctly, but in containerized environments, the upcall may be directed to a different namespace than intended, leading to issues. For example: a) The file share is mounted on the host node at /mnt/testshare1, meaning the Kerberos credential cache is stored in the host's namespace. b) A Docker container is created, and the file share path /mnt/testshare1 is exported to the container at /sharedpath. c) When the service ticket expires and the SMB connection is lost, before the ticket is refreshed in the credential cache, an application inside the container performs a file operation. This triggers the kernel to attempt a session reconnect. d) During the session setup, a Kerberos ticket is needed, so the kernel invokes the cifs.upcall binary using the request_key function. However, cifs.upcall switches to the namespace of the caller (i.e., the container), causing it to attempt to read the credential cache from the container's namespace. But since the original mount happened in the host namespace, the credential cache is located on the host, not in the container. This results in the upcall failing to access the correct credential cache or accessinng credential cache which doesn't belong to correct user. It fixed here: https://git.samba.org/?p=cifs-utils.git;a=commit;h=89b679228cc1be9739d54203d28289b03352c174 Documentation: https://git.samba.org/?p=cifs- utils.git;a=commit;h=cf63240489431e98033e599a7c9437b59494a2e4 ** Affects: cifs-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Repro or simulation steps" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2099914/+attachment/5860177/+files/simulate_bug.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2099914 Title: cifs.upcall program in cifs-utils package incorrectly makes an upcall to different namespace in case of container environments To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cifs-utils/+bug/2099914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2099917] [NEW] cifs.upcall program in the cifs-utils package fails to use a valid service ticket from the credential cache if the TGT is expired or not exist
Public bug reported: cifs.upcall program in the cifs-utils package fails to use a valid service ticket from the credential cache if the TGT is expired or not exist When mounting an SMB file share on Linux using the kernel client with Kerberos authentication, the Linux kernel's cifs.ko module makes an upcall to user space during the session setup phase to retrieve the Kerberos service ticket from the credential cache. However, the current cifs.upcall fails to retrieve the service ticket even if it is valid, but instead it makes check to TGT to see if its valid and then retrieve the service ticket, but if we already have valid service ticket we shouldn't need to check for TGT. i.e in cases where the kernel handles upcalls for SMB session setup requests with Kerberos authentication, if the credential cache already contains a valid service ticket, it should be used directly without needing to check the TGT again. this is my 6th time trying to install ubuntu. My previous system has already been erased. My daughter recommended ubuntu, so I am sure we will work this out. However, I cannot do my work without being online, so I hope we can get this resolved in an expedient manner. Preferably, before Monday. cheers. This makes 8 attempts. As suggested, changed the boot mode to legacy. The only difference was another error message shortly after choosing Legacy Boot ...
