I tried the following: As root I moved /usr/lib/kde4/konsole to /usr/lib/kde4/konsole2
Now in kde3 when I use the Run dialog and type konsole, it gives me an error saying that KDEInit could not find /usr/lib/kde4/bin/konsole. So somehow the runner is misled into the kde4 konsole. Furthermore, I created an executable script in /usr/lib/kde4/bin and found that it the runner does not detect it. It is just the konsole which is fooled into getting the kde4 konsole.
