[Bug 121168] Re: Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly
I totally agree with bastafidly & Garoth. IMHO, the default should be not to include gvfs. I'll change the status to Confirmed, until a consensus has been reached. ** Changed in: baobab (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Summary changed: - Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly + Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly (~/.gvfs must be ignored) ** Summary changed: - Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly (~/.gvfs must be ignored) + Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly (~/.gvfs must be ignored by default) -- Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly (~/.gvfs must be ignored by default) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121168 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 121168] Re: Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly (~/.gvfs must be ignored by default)
IMHO, check .gvfs by default in Baobab causes totally disconcerted users. I've a 135 GB ext3 partition. When I scan my home folder (or the entire filesystem), Baobab shows: "Total filesystem capacity: 269,8 GB (used: 240,8 GB available: 29,0 GB)". However, if I uncheck gvfs-fuse-daemon in Edit->Preferences, and then click on "Scan Home" again, I get: "Total filesystem capacity: 134,9 GB (used: 120,4 GB available: 14,5 GB)". Which is correct, but not FULLY correct. See the "df -h" output: FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 135G 121G 7.7G 95% / Baobab says I've 29,0 GB or 14,5 GB available (depending on the options selected in Edit->Preferences), but "df -h" says I've 7,7 GB available. What is the correct value? -- Baobab (Disk usage analyser) reports the total diskspace incorrectly (~/.gvfs must be ignored by default) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121168 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 244086] [NEW] Baobab reports incorrect available diskspace value
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: baobab I've a 135 GB ext3 partition, mounted as "/" (root), with 7.7 GB free space (reported by Nautilus). When I scan my home folder (or the entire filesystem), Baobab shows: "Total filesystem capacity: 269.8 GB (used: 240.8 GB available: 29.0 GB)". which is NOT correctly in any way. If I uncheck gvfs-fuse-daemon in Edit->Preferences, and then click on "Scan Home" again, I get: "Total filesystem capacity: 134.9 GB (used: 120,4 GB available: 14.5 GB)". Which is ALMOST correct, EXCEPT the free available space (it should be 7.7 GB instead of 14.5 GB). Finally, if I do "df -h" on a Terminal, I get the three correct values: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 135G 121G 7.7G 95% / Therefore, I think: 1. To check gvfs-fuse-daemon by default in Baobab causes totally wrong values. Baobab should ignore it by default. The gvfs-fuse-daemon device must be unchecked in Edit->Preferences windows by default. 2. Baobab reports incorrect available diskspace value, regardless of the options selected in Edit->Preferences. FYI, this is the full "df -h" output in my system: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ df -h FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 135G 121G 7.7G 95% / varrun505M 288K 505M 1% /var/run varlock 505M 0 505M 0% /var/lock udev 505M 64K 505M 1% /dev devshm505M 80K 505M 1% /dev/shm lrm 505M 38M 468M 8% /lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/volatile /dev/sda1 142G 132G 9.7G 94% /media/sda1 gvfs-fuse-daemon 135G 121G 7.7G 95% /home/ricardo/.gvfs ** Affects: baobab (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Baobab reports incorrect available diskspace value https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/244086 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Interesting: it looks like "df" computes the available diskspace incorrectly, because 135 - 121 = 14, which is NOT equal to 7.7: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 135G 121G 7.7G 95% / So, it looks like the problem is in "df" and Nautilus, NOT in Baobab. -- Baobab reports incorrect available diskspace value https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/244086 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 290552] Re: Pidgin should default to "Show system tray icon: On unread messages"
+1 for Alex. Before trying to change the default tray icon behavior, we must try not to lose the minimize-to-tray feature *by default*. That could be considered as a regression. Also, changing the default setting isn't obvious for all users. "Additionally, the HIG states that if it does anything other than opening a window, it should be an applet, rather than showing up as if it was a notification icon." Pidgin (formerly Gaim) had an applet some time ago, but was replaced by the minimize-to-tray feature, AFAIK. -- Pidgin should default to "Show system tray icon: On unread messages" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290552 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

+1 Lucky LIX. Many, many applications drop an icon persistently in the notification area: NetworkManager, aMSN, Pidgin, Bazaar GTK, Dropbox, aMule, Transmission... IMHO, trying to change the default behavior of other applications (losing functionality, also) because of feature duplicity is a step back that might be considered. -- Pidgin icon matches the user-switcher-applet too much https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273220 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 273220] Re: Pidgin icon matches the user-switcher-applet too much
I'm against the status icon duplicity (I'm the bug 291846 initial reporter), but IMHO the solution is not to change the default Pidgin behavior nor to lose its "docking" feature in the notification area. I propose the following solution: to remove at all the status icon from FUSA. Two use cases: 1. The user isn't running Pidgin: In this case, the FUSA status icon isn't necessary. There's no reason to have it. 2. The user is running Pidgin (and its status icon in the notification area): In this case, the FUSA status icon isn't necessary, because there's already one status icon in the panel. 3. The user is running another IM tool (not Pidgin): In this case, that IM tool could possible have its status icon, so we drop to use cases #1 or #2. IMHO, fixing one only application is better and easier than fixing many. -- Pidgin icon matches the user-switcher-applet too much https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273220 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 290552] Re: Pidgin should default to "Show system tray icon: On unread messages"
The status icon is the access point to all the IM application. You can't access to the buddy list using Fast User Switch Applet. Without the Pidgin status icon, you must have the buddy list always opened, which is an obvious lack of ergonomy. Moreover, we are talking about Pidgin, but... what about any other IM? What about aMSN, Emesene, Gajim, Skype or Ekiga? Are all these programs wrong? Are all they need to be fixed in order to not having a status icon by default? IMHO, this is not the right direction. We can't expect to be able to replace the docking feature of all the present and future IM applications with only one applet (FUSA). IMHO, we must to stay, think and reconsider what's the FUSA status change usefulness. If the problem is only about icon duplicity, we propose to remove the FUSA status icon (see https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/273220/comments/9 for more details). By the way: I'm using both Pidgin and aMSN at the same time. When I change my status using FUSA, aMSN is not affected. Langpacks has nothing to do with the translations of the Universe software, because that translations go into the software packages themselves. [Bug 358641] Re: Incorrect Translation in Spanish Network (ENG)->Red (SPA) ¿?-> Rojo (red c olour)
Hi, David. This is a translation issue, and was fixed on 2009-05-13 in the trunk template: https://translations.launchpad.net/netbook-remix-launcher/trunk/+pots /netbook-launcher/es/26/+translate (That's the meaning of the "Fix Commited" status.) Previously, the above #26 string was "Rojo", but now is "Red". In order to fully fix the issue, we need to rebuild the netbook-launcher package to include the latests translations updates into the package itself. The current netbook-launcher version is 1.6.20-0ubuntu2, so we could build the 1.6.20-0ubuntu3 version with the latests translations and without any change in the code. I hope to have explained well :). -- Incorrect Translation in Spanish Network (ENG)->Red (SPA) ¿?-> Rojo (red colour) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358641 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
