Re: [Bug 276531] Re: 8.10 Alpha apps lock if default printer can't be reached
Still an issue. Current configuration looks like this: Linux pokeefe-laptop 2.6.27-10-generic #1 SMP Fri Nov 21 12:00:22 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux Ubuntu 8.10 cups-config --version 1.3.9 gedit 2.24.2 One remote printer configured as default: lpp://10.0.0.1:631/printers/Photosmart-C4200-series Second machine is currently powered off. Print dialog in gedit hangs for approximately 1 minute in this configuration before giving me a dialog that allows selecting an alternate printer. If I power on the machine with the printer attached, dialog is instantaneous. [Bug 332543] Re: echo test not working
Was looking for a similar issue to report against. In my configuration, I had previous release of Ekiga running on Intrepid. I use it infrequently, mainly for voicemail but have both an Ekiga.net and Diamondcard account so I can do full in/out calling. Received a voicemail today and went to check it just to clear it from the outbound site. Found I could not make any outbound calls. Could make inbound calls. I'm running the alpha (current) version of Jaunty now. Had a second computer sitting next to this one, also running Jaunty, but with x86_64 binaries. Configured Ekiga there with default settings and it worked correctly for Echo Test and outbound calling. Removed configuration on this computer using "apt-get purge ekiga" and then "apt-get autoremove" and reinstalled. After new configuration of all attributes functionality was restored to normal. Possibly upgrade process from Intrepid to Jaunty is broken? [Bug 288148] Re: Disabling ath5k in 2.6.27
I always read the change log for the Kernel at least before I apply an update and thus I knew my ATH5K support would disappear. But I've long felt that update-manager or some other tool should preserve the last few changelogs locally so that when you applied an update and something suddenly stopped working you had a way to go back through your locally kept logs to try to determine the root cause. I think the note here should have been much more explanatory. Something to the effect of "You WILL lose wireless connectivity and must take the following steps to restore it" For my personal situation, merely installing the LBM package did not instantly restore connectivity. While I'm still troubleshooting and expect I'll eventually get either that module, MadWiFi or NdisWrapper to work, I can see that for many people, especially who only have wireless connectivity on their laptop/netbook that this could be terribly frustrating. That said, all of you should be mindful that you are currently running a pre-release version of Intrepid, that this is not GA software and that you have put yourself in a unique situation by electing to use this distribution. The goal for everybody is to have stable software in six more days. I've experienced the performance problems with the ATH5K module that this thread are addressing and agree that stability for release must be a paramount goal. -- Disabling ath5k in 2.6.27 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 289100] Re: Kernel update to 2.6.27-7.14 broke atheros wireless on acer aspire one
Add my report to this thread. With Intrepid update this week that disabled ath5k driver in linux- image-2.6.27-7-generic I followed suggested instructions to install linux-backports-modules to restore ath5k driver. Currently running linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic version 2.6.27-7.14 & linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-7-generic version 2.6.27-7.4 Upon boot up to GDM login prompt all appears ok. I moved to a text terminal and signed in and verified that I had wireless connectivity. I had IP address and could ping my outside gateway. I then signed in with GDM and lost connectivity. Connectivity seems to be sporadic and slow. It appears the interface is bouncing up and down although /var/log/messages is not reflecting this. Pinging my router shows PING 10.0.0.254 (10.0.0.254) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=214 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=147 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=677 ms ^C --- 10.0.0.254 ping statistics --- 13 packets transmitted, 3 received, 76% packet loss, time 19034ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 147.884/346.778/677.596/235.516 ms which is consistent with the erratic interface behavior described above. If you can live with the performance Go to www.2wire.com and check the speed meter (just for comparison) Kernel ath5K from LBM: 156 KBPS NDIS Wrapper with net511 driver: 2.37 MBPS from same location with same interference levels. Pings to the local router show similar performance with NDIS Wrapper driver in under 2 msec and Kernel driver in the 200 msec range. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga Ekiga comes on-line and registers with my two SIP providers, ekiga.net and Diamondcard. Upon shutdown registration to ekiga.net is properly shutdown, but registration to Diamondcard remains registered. -- Note, this is hypothesis, Diamondcard does not make a troubleshooting page available to show whether SIP client is registered like the one at ekiga.net Impact: Calls to Diamondcard from a normal outside line report "All Circuits are busy" when call delivery to client is attempted. Work arounds: (1) Bring up another SIP client such as the Diamondcard provided "Dreamtime Softphone 2.1.9b" (only Windows available) and then tear it down to release the connection (2) Wait for the timeout to expire. Re: [Bug 329540] Re: Blackberry Utils Timing out on Jaunty
Have been testing against the Ubuntu built kernels and Kernel mainline. Fails against any Kernel build from Ubuntu since 2.6.28-7. Fails against mainline 2.6.28.6 and 2.6.29-rc5 on both x86 and x86_64. Back trace shows waiting on a bulk usb read, last userland in libusb, and hung in kernel space. Works correctly if run under gdb. Thinking a timing issue. Current thought is that write may not complete to device. Examined code and there is an unlimited wait time on the read. I have completed the steps in your message and have details and additional notes. [Bug 857035] Re: Unity/Compiz Hotkeys extremely slow
Used same USB image on another computer, this one with an ATI RV610 video card and saw normal/expected responses from Alt+Tab and Windows Meta key. Matteo: (1) What graphics card do you have (2) Can you repeat the process by booting a USB flash drive with the current version of Ubuntu 11.10 to see if you are still seeing it? 10.04 is more than 18 months old and I never had any problems with performance until this last version, and only on that one specific system with the Intel graphics card. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857035 Title: Unity/Compiz Hotkeys extremely slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/857035/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 878334] Re: soffice.bin crashed with SIGSEGV Libreoffice Calc immediately closes (/crashes) upon starting
