[Bug 178895] Re: Audacity does not mesh with PulseAudio

2008-12-10 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
David, It works!
It's amazing, I though that I have to wait lot of time to get some solution for
this!

Now I can install pulseaudio to my brothers and also Interpid!

Do you know if it's possible to install this version of audacity on
Ubuntu 64bit?

[Bug 252094] Re: MASTER: Poor graphics performance on Intel

2009-01-29 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
I had many many issues with this intel gm965/gl960 video card before
(with ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10)

*It didn't support opengl 2.1
*lot of graphics errors on it's interface
*Google earth worked really bad, windows "collapsed" and things strange

With ubuntu 9.04 now I can work with opengl 2.1 but in it's default
installation, it still had error 2 and 3 and also I experienced some
performance issues.
With it's default installation glxgears gives me only 60 FPS in my laptop (Too
bad).

After add Option "AccelMethod" "UXA" in my xorg.conf file glxgears starts
working arround 400 FPS (more than 4 times improved the speed) and all errors
before are fixed.
I don't know exactly why it happens, but when I added Option "AccelMethod"
"UXA" to my xorg.conf everything seems to be working fine and google earth
works great!

Is it a fix for this issue or just a work arround?

Re: [Bug 213705] Re: (hardy) video play's slow when wireless is working on msi pr200

2009-06-04 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 198453 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198453

Hi people, actually I found some fixes for many issues for my MSI PR200. I
added acpi=noirq no apm and I removed splash from my kernel boot on my grub
menu /boot/grub/menu.list, so it's as this now:

titleUbuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-11-generic
uuid6a16c92d-b2f7-42ca-a384-f91ba8345a5f
kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-generic
root=UUID=6a16c92d-b2f7-42ca-a384-f91ba8345a5f ro quiet noapm acpi=noirq
initrd/boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-11-generic
quiet

after that I updated grub with: sudo update-grub

It seems to fix many issues that I never understood before, like keyboard
freezes for some time, touchpad stops working for indetermine time,
unspected slowness for some minutes, sound slowness, etc It seems to be
issues with ACPI and something else, removing splash and adding these lines
seems to help.

Could you test?

Regards,

Pablodav

You are in true...

Now I installed tuxguitar-jsa and gervill is displayed and working fine

So maybe to fix this tuxguitar-jsa should be a dependency and used by

should be added about this.

[Bug 368220] [NEW] xserver-xorg-video-intel driver must be version 2.7 in Jaunty and others

2009-04-27 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

In Ubuntu Jaunty we have disabled compiz, we have many issues with Intel
driver since Jaunty is released and before.

Many hundred of these issues are fixed in 2.7 Intel driver
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2009-April/045117.html

Maybe there is some possibility to add this driver to Jaunty and remove
from compiz black list the Intel GM965 driver.

Also there are many issue with UXA fixed in this release.

If you check bugs related with xserver-xorg-video-intel driver package
you will found 323 bugs!! too many

I think 90 percent of them could be fixed with this 2.7 intel driver.

[Bug 96991] Re: 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI

2009-05-06 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hi t fix all these things I updated xserver-xorg-video-intel to version 2.7 and
put this in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Option "UseFBDev" "true"
Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"
EndSection

(It could be done with sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf)

Follow this page to get instructions how to install latest version of
intel driver from x-updates:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates

The latest version of intel video driver fixes many, many many things!!!

perfomance is really enhanced (test it with glxgears for example)

Many issues with video like glxgears, googleearth, compiz, and things
like that are fixed!!

I suggested this version of driver should be default driver for Jaunty
and others but somebody rejected my opinion and said to me "if you want
to get latest driver install it from x-updates"

Then I'm trying to resolve this myself.

If you want to enable compiz in Jaunty you can do it adding this SKIP_CHECKS=yes
 to one of these files:

~/.config/compiz/compizconfig/config
~/.config/compiz/compiz-manager

I added the line to both files because I'm not sure wich one is correct
in Ubuntu, but at least it is working really great than before!

[Bug 366476] [NEW] TuxGuitar must be version 1.1

2009-04-24 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tuxguitar

Actually tuxguitar is not working fine in ubuntu since pulseaudio is working in
Ubuntu, see:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/timidity/+bug/210472

It makes Ubuntu too hard to get TuxGuitar working fine for some users, the best
solution that we see is to include latest version of tuxguitar or at least
leave a message in tuxguitar package to recomend users to download latest
version from http://tuxguitar.com.ar/download.html
There users can get a .deb package that works fine for Ubuntu, important thing
to note is users should remove tuxguitar-1.0 package before install tuxguitar
1.1 - I got error message trying to update because there are some differences
in packaging I think.

Another note that should be wrote is, users should change midi port to
Gervill inside Preferences -Sound after open TuxGuitar first time, It's
necessary to get Tux Guitar working totally well.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: tuxguitar 1.0-1ubuntu1
PackageArchitecture: all
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
 LANG=es_UY.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: tuxguitar
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-11-generic x86_64

2008-08-08 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
I have the same problem, but my computer is different. I have laptop MSI

package, suspend, Xorg or sound system. Because I think I have to set

(also for some services, maybe pulseaudio, compiz or xorg).

Also, I don't know if I have to open a new ticket.

Somebody know where I can read something to start testing?

Do I have to open a new ticket?

[Bug 198453] Re: Default ALSA device must use PulseAudio, otherwise ALSA applications may fail

2008-08-05 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Hey for me all is working if I do it:

sudo aptitude install libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio

and configuration for /etc/asound.conf

pcm.pulse { type pulse }
ctl.pulse { type pulse }

Nothing else!!!

With this, if pulseaudio is not playing anything skype works fine!
But firefox crashes sometimes when I play some flash, not always just some
times.

I tried to put configuration for asound with:
pcm.!default {
type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
type pulse
}

But after that skype stops working, so I fixed It when I put back my
configuration.

Also I installled a new 8.04.1 on a new computer everything works fine,
I don't have to do anything new!

2009-04-14 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Sorry, this is not an issue with atunnel for my, Atunnel screensaver
works fine but google earth and glxgears are having errors when them
works with compiz activated.

Do I have to open a new bug report for this? Or this bug isn't be really
fixed?

[Bug 213705] [NEW] (hardy) video play's slow when wireless is working on msi pr200

2008-04-07 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

On Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 when I can't play videos while my wireless is connected
and working, something strange happens and the video movies play's really
really slow.
If I turn of radio wireless the video movies start to working fine again. This
is really strange and I have no idea why it's working at that way.
I made a normal installation for hardy and have have up to date all the
packages.

Do you have some idea?

My computer is the small laptop MSI PR200.

All the other features for ubuntu works great !(except this and standby
feature) this realease with this laptop is amazing, after I install
Ubuntu it starts working with video acceleration, sound, webcam,
bluethoth and wireless. Thanks to all the team from Ubuntu and the
community for this.

[Bug 176332] Re: amarok does not work with pulseaudio [hardy]

2008-04-10 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
It's truth It works with libxine1-gnome, after install the package you can
select esd as a sound server on amarok.
Also I had to install kcontrol and set the configuration for arts to work with
esd.
I think is very important that these configurations come by default on Ubuntu
8.04, end users don't know anything about pulseaudio, esd, etc.

[Bug 202791] Re: [Hardy] audacity fails to playback a sound file due to no device

2008-04-11 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Fine, what you will do with this?
I know audacity works when it's only audacity recording and playing with alsa
drivers, but if you start another application to play music at the same time,
sound on audacity crashes.

Do you know if there are some module for pulseaudio to take control of
all alsa request or something like this?

It happens with all applications that doesn't have support for esd,
skype for example is exactly the same. If I'm play sound while open
skype, skype starts without sound; but if I'm close or stop playing this
application an open skype it works.

[Bug 176332] Re: amarok does not work with pulseaudio [hardy]

2008-04-12 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
I don't know, I think amarok will not autodetect to use pulseaudio if alsa
fails.
Also I don't have idea howto install xine pulse patch, i tried to search for a
package: apt-cache search xine pulse but i didn't find anything.
Now It's working amarok for me with esd after install libxine1-gnome I had to
set manually amarok engine to use esd. I think It should be done by default on
Ubuntu for amarok package dependencies and configuration or something like
this.
Also I would like to try this xine pulse patch, but I don't know how to.

Br,
Pablo.

[Bug 216887] [NEW] libao.conf wrong in Hardy - it's using alsa as default and should be pulse

2008-04-13 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libao2

I read in http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup that we should change
/etc/libao.conf from default_driver=alsa to default_driver=pulse so we can get
libao working properly with pulseaudio.
The issue with this is that libao2 and libao-pulse has by default alsa. It
should be changed.

[Bug 216894] [NEW] artsd in hardy is not correcly configured by default to work with pulseaudio

2008-04-13 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: arts

By default arts is in autodetect, but for some reason it uses alsa instead of
use esd as a driver output. For this reason when I'm playing sound KDE
application can't get sound system working.
I changed arts to work with esd, I installed kcontrol to do it later I read in
pulseaudio.org that we can change it for all the users by default.

See this information:

KDE ¶

KDE 3 uses the artsd sound server by default. However, artsd itself can
be configured to use an Esound backend. Edit kcmartsrc (either in
/etc/kde or /usr/share/config for global configuration or
.kde/share/config to configure only one user) like this:

[Arts]
Arguments=\s-F 10 -S 4096 -a esd -n -s 1 -m artsmessage -c drkonqi -l 3 -f
NetworkTransparent=true
SuspendTime=1

KDE 4 uses Phonon as the main audio interface. The Xine backend of
Phonon should eventually use PulseAudio automatically, but at the time
of writing the pulse plugin for Xine is too unreliable, so it's disabled
by default. While waiting for that to get better, Phonon uses Alsa.
Therefore, to get Phonon to use PulseAudio, you have to edit your
~/.asoundrc or /etc/asound.conf. However, the normal .asoundrc
modifications aren't enough. See #232 (specifically the workaround
part).

I think it should be done by default in arts package.

Br,

Pablo.

[Bug 202791] Re: [Hardy] audacity fails to playback a sound file due to no device

2008-04-13 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Audacity is one of the best recorders for me, in the same page I saw some
configuration for applications that only support alsa:
http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup#ALSAApplications

Somebody tried this?

I tried but /etc/asound.conf doesn't exist, I tried to make it manually but I'm
not sure how I can test it.
I tried to work with audacity while I'm playing something with other
application after change /etc/asound.conf but It didn't work.

If I have only audacity working without any other player or recorder
audacity works, so for now it's ok for me.

[Bug 573455] Re: gdm not starting on bootup with nvidia driver

2010-06-05 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
In this forum http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=167422 I
found some information that fix the problem, basic steps are:

1) Download the correct driver from nvidia web page (I couldn't get it fixed
with Ubuntu driver at any way)
2)Purge nvidia packages: sudo apt-get purge nvidia-*
3) Create the file "/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-graphics-drivers.conf" with the
following contents:
blacklist vga16fb
blacklist nouveau
blacklist lbm-nouveau
blacklist nvidia-173
blacklist nvidia-96
blacklist nvidia-current
blacklist nvidiafb
4)create or adjust the /etx/X11/xorg.conf file to:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
EndSection
5) reboot (You can also unload nvidia modulos and the others that I put in
blacklist with command "modprobe -r module", example: modprobe -r nouveau
6) If you restarted it will tell you that it can't start X ( low graphics mode
) , then choose a text based console login
(if it does start in X, just press ctrl-F1, log yourself in and call "sudo
service gdm stop" or "sudo stop gdm"

7) run the nvidia installer and when it asks to run nvidia-x-config, answer yes
To run the nvidia installer, you should go to the folder with driver (ej: cd
Downloads). Change the installer permissions to be executable (chmod +x
fileoftheinstaller.sh), execute the installer (sudo ./fileoftheinstaller.sh)

8) Restart, it should start xorg automatically

[Bug 420663] Re: acpi does not work properly on Jaunty - MSI PR200

2009-10-09 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Thanks for all this information!

I didn't know this system76, seems to be good.

Also I'm testing Jaunty with Kernel 2.6.31 from Ubuntu from
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux/

Since some weeks ago I have this kernel version working really better on
my laptop and I have no problems with ACPI and power battery status
actually.

Also with kernel 2.6.31 I have no problems with slowness, all the system
works stable and fast in my laptop.

So it can be marked as fixed

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Fix Released

[Bug 437250] [NEW] six screens displays after install nvidia driver on nvidia 8200M

2009-09-26 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

After nvidia installation I got 6 screens on one display, I tried to
install newest driver from nvidia.com but same thing. Looking on ubuntu
forum I found this solution:

edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Look for Section ¨Device¨

Add this line:

 Option "ModeValidation" "NoTotalSizeCheck"

Restart X

It´s solved at this way, but I think we should have this note on release
notes for Jaunty at least, also if it´s possible the program nvidia-
xconfig should detect the video card and add this line itself.

[Bug 420663] [NEW] acpi does not work properly on Jaunty - MSI PR200

2009-08-28 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

On laptop MSI PR200 there are many issues with ACPI support, battery
status is not recognized all times, just some times it works, alse there
are some "slowness" when something happens with acpi.

To get better stability on my sistem I have to add acpi=noirq on
menu.lst for my kernel line options.

I wish to get fixed it before Karmic release.

[Bug 334643] Re: suspend/resume problem on MSI PR200

2009-08-28 Thread Pablo Estigarribia
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 328275 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/328275

Somebody knows about the future architecture for suspend/resume on
Linux?

I heard that new kernel 2.6.30 is ready for some restructure for
suspend/resume, but I'm not sure what is this and when it will be
reimplemented.

I hope this kind of bugs could be fixed before next LTS release, It will
be wonderful for many of us.
