[Bug 296061] Re: Xsession.d baulks if PulseAudio is removed, making login impossible
The problem was in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio In solving bug #274124 the fix was to create that entry that pointed to a wrapper at /usr/bin/pulse-session however since this was just a quick fix whoever wrote it didn't make the script check that /usr/bin/pulse- session existed - which it wouldn't do if the pulseaudio package had been removed. xsession.d entry which checks this has been attached. It now works fine without pulseaudio ** Attachment added: "70pulseaudio" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19520953/70pulseaudio -- Xsession.d baulks if PulseAudio is removed, making login impossible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 296105] [NEW] splash-screen stopped working in compaq presario on upgrade to Intrepid
Public bug reported: On my Compaq Presario C300 the splash screen stopped working (i.e. get text only boot) after I upgraded to Intrepid. Uninstalling splashy and reinstalling usplash doesn't help, and neither does using one of the earlier kernels. There appears to be some warning printed on the screen after the splash screen fails, about the wrong driver being used. I will make note of that next time I boot. The OS boots fine, it's just the splashscreen doesn't work. Doing "sudo splashy test" gives a nice penguin on the screen and a flashing bar, so that seems to be working... Possibly related to bug #265049 or bug #274155 ? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- splash-screen stopped working in compaq presario on upgrade to Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 294541] Re: Can't start session after removing pulseaudio (/etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio remains)
Another way of looking at it: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio doesn't check that /usr/bin/pulse-session actually exists before it tries to execute it. Either this check should be applied in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio or it should be removed or disabled somehow when the user removes pulseaudio. [Bug 296061] [NEW] Xsession.d baulks if PulseAudio is removed, making login impossible
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio I remove pulseaudio because it only ever gives me bugs and problems and I have never had -any- need for it, IMO it is better for me to add it if and when I need it than suffer the potential problems in basic music playback. However when I removed it after upgrading to Intrepid I find that I am unable to login to my desktop. I get a message saying that "your session lasted only 10 seconds... etc etc" from the contents of .xsession-errors it appears to be because /usr/bin/pulse-session doesn't exist. It appears that the recursion editing is generally broken. Moving a event can be done by seperating hte event from the recursion. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-wacom I have a shiny new Wacom Volito2 graphics tablet. It came with a CD and laughing at the impunity of ubuntu's hardware support (look digital photographers, plug and play!) I plugged it into edgy As I expected it worked, and behaved like a tablet, however it couldn't cover the entire 1280X800 screen... So: I know the drivers working, since sudo cat /dev/input/wacom gives me lots of stuff when I move the stylus, and so does wacdump - also when I unload the wacom kernel module it stops working, but the problem is 3 fold: 1: it doesn't cover the entire screen unless i lower the screen res 2:using the mouse/touchpad in conjunction with the tablet throws it completely out of sync 3:there is no pressure sensitivity to speak of This is not good, since in windows the tablet works beautifully, after installing the humiliating CD it seems odd to think that i'd have to log into windoze just to use the GIMP properly This is probably just a upstream issue, if so then we'll just forward it, but this is essentially a botched driver in a supported package, so a solution would be nice ** Affects: wacom-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- wacom driver is far from adequate on Volito2 https://launchpad.net/bugs/77300 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 77086] X crashes on coming out of standby on ATI radeon
Public bug reported: on the HP pavillion zv6000, standby and hibernate causes X to show nothing but a blank screen on reawakening If i remember correctly this used to happen occasionally before, but has since started happening a lot, i think since I upgraded to edgy... :p (to be fair It sometimes doesn't fail, but that is now the exception the rule) anyway... there are several video problems with this ATI mobility Radeon for example the already reported problem with switching VT's. this one, happens with either the main driver, included with ubuntu, or ATI's 'fglrx' driver included in the restricted repository. also I have been able to find that 'fglrx' complains of attempting to free a NULL pointer when going into standby. Details: device manager says the info.product is - ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M 5955 (PCIE) When it goes blank as it does, the enter password box still exists, but once i enter my password, it's still blanked. The Xserver can still be restarted by pressing ctrl-alt-backspace, and programs still run (I can tell since music continues to run from rhthymbox) and another strange thing, the popups from the system tray which show, current playing track, warn about battery running out etc still show... Any ideas? ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- X crashes on coming out of standby on ATI radeon https://launchpad.net/bugs/77086 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1882173] [NEW] Xorg crash
Public bug reported: System randomly "hangs" for about 30 seconds before rebooting. Crash has never occurred while system is idle.
