[Bug 556856] Re: [lucid] [nouveau] blank screen on Dell Precision M4500 [10de:0cbc]
Chris, no good results to report with the drm-next kernel (and I can't say for the backports in ~xorg-edgers, I haven't tried them yet, and understood it would be much the same as the drm-next kernel). Hi, I see a number of issues with the APIC on CPU0. This is likely not related, but you may want to open a new bug about it (and try to see if your system boots with the noapic kernel option). You should see if the connection stays established with compression disabled. Additionally, these errors indicate similar issues: Nov 11 10:21:14 tatooine nm-openvpn[20271]: WARNING: 'link-mtu' is used inconsistently, local='link-mtu 1542', remote='link-mtu 1546' Nov 11 10:21:14 tatooine nm-openvpn[20271]: WARNING: 'mtu-dynamic' is present in remote config but missing in local config, remote='mtu-dynamic' In both of these cases, you should try to set the mtu options to match the server's, as they should help with connection performance. Re: [Bug 215497] Re: IPv6 configuration is not flushed when interface goes down
We do hope to pick up with the state of NM upstream at this point, it just required major updates that couldn't really make it in Lucid. FWIW, you should be able to try the NM trunk PPA, which may include the necessary ipv6 fixes already, or will shortly. Since it is a PPA for daily builds however, it may be unstable and not fully tested / buggy. On May 8, 2010 9:26 AM, "Tore Anderson" wrote: I think this problem is fixed in upstream NM now; from what I've seen it'll always flush all the IPv6 addresses when it's shutting down an interface. There's been lots of work on the IPv6 parts of NM lately, by the way, see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=538499 for the "umbrella" bug. I think you're more likely to get IPv6 issues in NM fixed by joining the discussion there (submit new bugs for new issues and say so in #538499). When you're happy with how the upstream code work, you can ask the Ubuntu maintainers to do an upstream re-sync. [Bug 346768] Re: network-manager-pptp loses MPPE settings
@SmartKenny, Truly sorry about that issue -- you'll want to install network-manager- pptp-gnome in addition to network-manager-pptp if you're using the PPA now, it has been split so that people using KDE don't have to pull in tons of GNOME dependencies they don't need. Once installed, it should work fine, please post here if it doesn't. Also, once it works, you should disable the NetworkManager trunk PPA, since there may always be new updates that break things -- it's a daily build, so there is always some risk. I really should have mentioned this from the start. @sayantandas, please open a separate bug for this, and describe the settings you use for your VPN in details, I'm not sure if it's the same thing yet, but if it is we can mark it as a duplicate of this bug later. @idlehands, are you on Lucid or do you use Karmic with the trunk PPA? -- network-manager-pptp loses MPPE settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346768 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 524573] [NEW] [MIR] network-manager-pptp
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager-pptp Availability: The network-manager-pptp package is in universe. http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/n/network-manager-pptp/ Rationale: The package is useful for a large part of our user base. It is essential for the majority of Russian DSL users - they can't get online without it. Security: It is my understanding that security vulnerabilities for the PPTP plugin of NetworkManager would get filed under the NetworkManager product, which has been affected by 3 Secunia advisories, and 4 Vulnerabilities in the past 7 years. 6 CVE entries are listed against NetworkManager over the past four years on the cve.mitre.org master copy CVE list. Quality assurance: Package is currently installable and builds cleanly. It does not ask debconf questions. The plugin can be installed and configured in a matter of installing the package and entering values for two fields through the NetworkManager connection editor for basic, standard functionality. network-manager-pptp currently lists 54 open bugs in Launchpad, 2 in Debian and 7 upstream (GNOME). Many are likely to relate to usual configurations or requirements. Upstream is quite responsive (often in a matter of hours) and the upstream code is kept on the Gnome Git repository. https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-pptp http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?package=network-manager-pptp https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced;order=Importance;bug_status=UNCONFIRMED;bug_status=NEW;bug_status=ASSIGNED;bug_status=REOPENED;bug_status=NEEDINFO;component=VPN:%20pptp;product=NetworkManager New versions of the package are often uploaded to Ubuntu prior to reaching Debian, the core maintaining team consists of the ~network- manager LP team. UI standards: network-manager-pptp is a plugin for NetworkManager. It does not ship a .desktop file, but the configuration dialog is ships separately from the core NetworkManager application are fully translated. Dependencies: All build and binary dependencies are already in main. Standards compliance: The package is FHS and Debian Policy compliant. The source package is simple, and contains only the code required to support daily builds from the git tree. Maintenance: network-manager-pptp may need to be updated to use the latest code from upstream to include recent bug fixes. This process is currently automated in daily builds. Patches can be added when required; cdbs is used to handle patches. Background information: network-manager-pptp is used as a plugin for NetworkManager to establish PPTP based VPN connections. PPTP VPN solutions include the default VPN infrastructure for Windows systems. Some ISPs additionally use PPTP to secure and authenticate DSL lines, some companies and universities also use PPTP as a method to allow remote access to teleworkers. ** Affects: network-manager-pptp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [MIR] network-manager-pptp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524573 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi, I'm not really sure how this could be implemented in a way that would be acceptable for everyone. Furthermore, I would suggest instead making sure that each of the applications that show incorrect behavior have a bug reported against them, since this will usually relates to a change in the default gateway (through the VPN or without VPN), which would be the same as just an Internet connection failing. [Bug 561802] [NEW] [lucid] [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg During installation, bootup (plymouth) and while inside X, screen remains blank. Switching VTs yields no results (screen remains blank). This was done with today's daily desktop image, amd64: 10.04 (20100412). I've been able to isolate the issue to possibly somewhere in modesetting with the i915 driver, here are the tested cases: - Disabling modesetting with 'nomodeset' as a kernel parameter: boot messages visible in 'verbose', otherwise nothing on screen, X remains blank. - Disabling modesetting with 'i915.modeset=0' as a kernel parameter: results in a kernel oops, after briefly showing a simple "text" splash and showing corruption of that splash screen. X clearly never comes up, caps/scroll/num blink. - Disabling modesetting with 'nomodeset' and switching X drivers to 'vesa': nothing on screen during boot, up to a working, visible desktop. [Bug 564984] [NEW] r8169 fails to autonegotiate speed/duplex
Public bug reported: The eth0 interface on a Dell Vostro 3400, as provided by the r8169 driver, fails to detect the presence of signal or cable connection. 'ethtool' doesn't report the presence of signal either. I've installed this system from USB, using the desktop daily image for 20100415. This happens on every boot; system currently cannot be booted from PXE for installation because of this bug. A workaround is currently to issue the 'ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off' command, after installing ethtool downloaded from another system. Once autonegotiation is turned off, signal is properly detected and as such, network-manager for example will see a connection and attempt to get an address from DHCP.
