[Bug 146828] Re: gdm uses incorrect screen resolution
I also had this issue after gutsy2hardy update with nvidia card. The gdm login screen had a super high virtual resolution. I remember going trough a lot of trouble getting the desktop resolution ok. Commenting the virtual line in xorg did not work for me. What worked for me was leaving just the resolution mode I use on the modes line, just as did Mariano on comment #7 of the duplicate bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/139912/comments/7 attached is my xorg ** Attachment added: "my-working-xorg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25246941/my-working-xorg -- gdm uses incorrect screen resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 146828] Re: gdm uses incorrect screen resolution
Forgot to mention something that I dont know if has anything to do with the issue... While trying to solve my gdm login resolution I considered using xrandr as a pre-gdm-script but while testing it on the shell as described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution it did not work so I never tried it. -- gdm uses incorrect screen resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 217368] Re: package update-manager 1:0.87.16 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Hello Richard, After the distribution upgrade failed I restarted and there was a notification of the problem and I clicked it. It then tried to continue the upgrade but stopped at the same point. One detail I did not explain in detail is that both the first and the second time what happened was that the progress bar stopped and I waited a really long time before I was sure it was a bug. THEN with the process bar stopped I clicked on the terminal of the dist upgrade dialog and hit CRTL+C. After the CRTL+C the dist-upgrade asked me if I wanted to report this bug to the developers and thats how I got here. ok. I have attached the files of /var/log/dist-upgrade hope it helps! ** Attachment added: "04 log files from /var/log/dist-upgrade" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13469857/varLogDistUpgradeFiles.tar.gz -- package update-manager 1:0.87.16 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217368 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

HEllo, Yes, as I described in my last comment. After waiting a really long time (many hours) with the progress bar still stopped I pressed crtl+c. Only then the process actually stoped and prompted me to report a bug. Just to make myselt clear I mean I really waited many hours before pressing crtl-c. I tryed to finish the upgrede process agains but again had the exact same issue. Hi, just to let you know that I found a way to leave the prompt open and operational http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-296628.html Basically you just have to create a script that initiates the command /bin/bash then if you want to run some specific command whe that shell opens you need to create a custom .bashrcCustom and pass it with the --rcfile option like this: #! /bin/sh /bin/bash --rcfile .myCustombashrc hope this helps someone -- gnome-terminal with --command option fails after first time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch), I downloaded the updated bios and created the boot usb. I then changed my BIOS boot mode to Legacy in order to be able to boot from the USB. I then changed boot mode back to UEFI and, to my surprise, the notebook booted to a perfectly normal screen brightness and fully working brightness function keys! [Bug 939768] Re: Can't use Ctrl as a modifier key to bring up Guake 0.4.2-7 (Precise)
I tryed: $ gconftool --type string --set /apps/guake/keybindings/global/show_hide "s" $ gconftool --type string --set /apps/guake/keybindings/global/show_hide "s" Both gave me a keybinding error pop up. [Bug 848250] Re: Tomboy sync fails on Oneiric, New Note Template already exists
I think this is the same bug that affected me and for witch I have found a workaround/solution and posted it on askubuntu.com at http://askubuntu.com/questions/71733/tomboy-notes-failed-to- synchronize/71882 I have beem suggested by a comment to post it here so here it goes: In my new ubuntu 11.10 install the Tomboy notes synchronizes just some of my notes notes and then fails. The details only shows the updated notes. When I look at the .config/tomboy/tomboy.log I see the error: 10/24/2011 11:12:29 PM [ERROR]: Synchronization failed with the following exception: A note with this title already exists: New Note Template at Tomboy.NoteManager.CreateNewNote (System.String title, System.String xml_content, System.String guid) [0x0] in :0 at Tomboy.NoteManager.CreateNoteFromTemplate (System.String title, Tomboy.Note template_note, System.String guid) [0x0] in :0 at Tomboy.NoteManager.CreateNewNote (System.String title, System.String guid) [0x0] in :0 at Tomboy.NoteManager.CreateWithGuid (System.String title, System.String guid) [0x0] in :0 at Tomboy.Sync.SyncManager+c__AnonStorey11.<>m__3F () [0x0] in :0 at Tomboy.GuiUtils+c__AnonStoreyC.<>m__2F (System.Object , System.EventArgs ) [0x0] in :0 I have tryed changing the URL on the sync preferences to https://edge.one.ubuntu.com/notes/ as sugested in question 66753 but it did not work. Then the solution I came with: Since the error on the log mentioned a note named "New Note Template" I created a note with that name through the ubuntu one web site and then tried to sync again. This time tomboy detected the conflict and offered some options to solve it. I chose to rename the local note and then it synced all my notes correctly! It sure is not perfect... I noticed that when I create a new note now it comes up with the renamed name "New Note Template (old)" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/848250 Title: Tomboy sync fails on Oneiric, New Note Template already exists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomboy/+bug/848250/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi quarara, I have the same hardware (Dell Inspiron 15r) and ubuntu 11.10 release. My touchpad was working in a super basic (move and click) mode. [Bug 478969] Re: inkscape crashes with gnome globalmenu
How to Fix the inkscape globalmenu problem on 10.04 Lucid First I removed globalmenu and Inkscape and reinstalled Inskscape but the problem persisted!
