[Bug 374525] [NEW] xfce4-terminal stops redrawing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfce4-terminal The terminal windows occasionally stop redrawing, when they are covered by another window and uncovered again. It doesn't seem to matter, which window covers the terminal. As soon as the content of the text-pane changes the affected regions become redrawn. A minimize fixes the behaviour for a few minutes, until the terminal start to behave like that again. The version of xfce4-terminal is 0.2.8-5ubuntu1. The version of xorg- server is 1:7.4~5ubuntu3. The graphic driver used is xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10.4. All this happens on a Lenovo T400, xorg report in its logfile a "Intel(R) Mobile IntelĀ® GM45 Express Chipset". Attached are two screenshots of this behaviour. As the versions might tell, it happens on Intrepid, x86_64. ** Affects: xfce4-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- xfce4-terminal stops redrawing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374525 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 62751] Re: Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes (also non luks) in cryptsetup
today i spent a whole 10hours on updating from dapper to edgy. Most of the time i spent while trying to debug the latest cryptsetup-package i compiled from feisty sources - with the final conclusion that it couldn't work on my installation because the patches suggested in this bug rely on /usr/bin/openvt which won't work for anyone who has /usr on a separate volume like i do. I can't however think of a better circumvention than commenting out that lines and replacing <&1 by "< /dev/console > /dev/console 2>&1" where necessary. Would one with greater knowledge of the situation please change the scripts to make them run on systems with separate /usr. [Bug 296750] Re: "special device /dev/dm-0 does not exist" when mounting an encrypted drive
I further investigated this issue and found out the following: Whenever it works, the hal entry for the unlocked device, which should get mounted, contains the following line: block.device = '/dev/mapper/luks_crypto_fb656bfe-460b-4437-97d6-93bb6e9e66c4' (string) Whenever it doesn't work, this line reads: block.device = '/dev/dm-4' (string) So this is the reason, the device cannot be mounted by gnome-mount. How are these entries created? During this conversation (http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/hal/2008-April/011440.html) a race condition is described, which could cause hal to pickup on the dm-4 device and not notice the change after it has been unlocked. [Bug 576369] [NEW] Manpage is not consistent with actual behaviour
Public bug reported: The algorithm driving fan control is described in the manpage, including the following statement about the actual mapping from temperature to fan speed: "Currently the speed increases quadratically with rising temperature." However the following function seems to be used by the fancontrol shellscript: line 442: pwmval="(${tval}-${mint})*(${maxpwm}-${minso})/(${maxt}-${mint})+${minso}" This however does look like a linear mapping, especially the (tval - min) / (max-min) part. Therefore I suggest to either correct the manpage or to change the way the value is calculated. Upstream says the manpages are not up-to-date (http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/Documentation). [Bug 527738] [NEW] Asks twice for password when opening dm-crypt encrypted devices
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thunar-volman I have several external drives encrypted with cryptsetup/luks. Whenever one is plugged in, thunar-volman displays a popup asking for the passphrase. After the passphrase is entered, it immediately asks again. Pressing "Ignore" makes it continue as expected. [Bug 564831] [NEW] xfce4-session fails to include variables into environment output by gnome-keyring-daemon --start
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfce4-session I'd like to use the ssh-agent functionality provided by gnome-keyring- daemon, but i can't get it to work for the following reason. During login, the keyring-daemon is started via dbus, right? If it is started by dbus, then that might as well be the source of my trouble: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeKeyring/RunningDaemon It says, that launching gnome-keyring-daemon from dbus only provides "basic password operations" without further functionality like ssh-agent. Bug #357346 sounds, as if xfce4-session indeed relies on dbus to start the keyring-daemon. However starting the daemon consists of two steps, the second of which is running "gnome-keyring-daemon --start" and including the printed information into the environment. In /etc/xdg/autostart there are three file each of which controls a single feature of gnome-keyring-daemon. Alltogether they are started by xfce4-session, but their printed variables are not included into the env, as they are not surrounded by eval ``. Therefore, the variable definitions show up in ~/.xsession- errors. I think i read some time ago, that gnome-keyring-daemon was capable of registering the environment-variables in the session via dbus. However this also doesn't happen, which means, SSH_AUTH_SOCK does not get set. However, in all this mess, GNOME_KEYRING_PID gets set. If i run ' eval `gnome-keyring-daemon --start` ' in .xprofile, i break the password storage, which indicates, that this seems to happen before dbus (but after pam of course). If i run eval `gnome-keyring-daemon --start export GNOME_KEYRING_CONTROL SSH_AUTH_SOCK then the ssh-agent is working in this shell, but of course nowhere else. [Bug 564633] Re: system-config-printer: make driver installation optional
I second that. Plus I'd like to _chose_, whether I want jockey to step in my way or whether I'd just like to select the driver from the list of installed ones. For a brother-printer which works after installing one single .deb (MFC 7820N, brother-cups-wrapper-laser), jockey installed 34 packages, just to import some rpm-based driver. What a nonsense. (it installed html2text po-debconf debhelper librpmio0 rpm-common librpm0 librpmbuild0 rpm2cpio rpm alien libsys-hostname-long-perl libmail-sendmail-perl libqt3-mt libqt4-network libqt4-assistant libqt4-xml libqt4-dbus libqt4-script libqt4-designer libqt4-svg libqt4-opengl libqt4-gui libqt4-sql libqt4-sql-sqlite m4 ncurses-term pax lsb-core lsb-graphics lsb-cxx lsb-desktop lsb-printing lsb openprinting-ppds-postscript-brother) I really appreciate the possibility to have jockey care for the whole driver installation, but I also would like to skip the step (which I did by pressing "Close" in Jockey) altogether. [Bug 568314] [NEW] Bash should not print ^C when pressing ctrl-c to abort reverse history search
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bash When doing a regex history search by pressing ctrl+R and then typing some text, you often want to abort the search. If you do that with ctrl-C, in order not to accidentally run the command, then the shell prints a ^C inside the command, overwriting whatever was at that position before. This behavior also happens, when you interrupt any running command on the shell, thus signaling that the end of output is not the end as actually printed by the program. So, in the first case it's a bug (or at least annoying), in the second it might be regarded a feature. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Shell 2. Press ctrl-R, type "ls" 3. Press ctrl-C It's also visible if you run "sleep 10" and press ctrl-C or if you just press ctrl-C when on an idle prompt. I've tested it with the xfce4-terminal and xterm, and in each with bash, dash and sh. Someone in IRC figured out, that zsh doesn't show this behavior. Someone else reported, that it happens in gentoo as well, suggesting that it might be an upstream problem. The problem first appeared with karmic. It might be a readline issue as well. XMind is compatible with Freemind/Mindmanager. XMind has two editions, XMind, an open source software and XMind Pro. XMind is dual licensed under 2 open source licenses: the Eclipse Public License v1.0 (EPL) and the GNU Lesser General Public License v3 (LGPL).
