[Bug 1769384] Re: SDDM does not unlock gnome-keyring on login

2019-06-10 Thread Ang Bongsong
Can confirm that SDDM has trouble unlocking the default keyring. While
it always seems to unlock it after a cold boot, at some point trouble
arises when logging out and back in again, along with after resuming
from suspend / hibernate. In those situations, the keyring remains
locked far more often than not. I am experiencing this under Lubuntu
19.04. The issue has been occurring both before and after I migrated
data over from an install of Ubuntu Xenial. I have not made changes to
sddm configs, as the other user who filed this bug has.

[Bug 1325675] [NEW] Indicator Plugin Area Refuses to Match Xfce Themes & Certain Icons are Cut Off

2014-06-02 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

i have noticed two strange bugs in regard to the new indicator plugin on
the panel in xubuntu 14.04 (64bit):

1. in the panel preferences dialog, when i set the background style to
"none (use system style)" the entire indicator plugin area and all the
icons in it, refuse to match the rest of the panel and instead take on a
semi-transparent grey background. this happens with all themes that i've
tried. here is a screenshot that shows how out of place and incosistent
the indicator area looks under these conditions;
http://i5.minus.com/i13axvucGfWum.png now, if i change the background
style to "solid color" the bug disappears;
http://i6.minus.com/ibjum6Wc3c9Anz.png but that means my panel will no
longer match whatever theme i use automatically.

2. some icons in the indicator plugin area have portions cut off, there
is no other way to describe this. here is a screenshot;
http://i5.minus.com/i51zpfDWSL0nE.png notice the icon for psensor (next
to volume control icon) is cut off at the top and bottom.

p.s. this is on a machine i upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04 through the
software updater / dist-upgrade. aside from some issues with a few
indicator and notification plugins, the upgrade went swimmingly.

- version of xfce4-indicator-plugin = 2.3.2-0ubuntu2
- what i expect to happen = the indicator plugin area should match the xfce
theme i'm using, and thus the rest of the panel. icons should also not be cut
off, and i'd assume scaled to fit on the panel instead.
- what happened instead = the indicator plugin area does not match any xfce
them i'm using, and thus looks very out of place on the panel, unless i change
the background style to "solid color", but this nullifies the ability of the
panel to automatically match themes. certain icons also do not fit the panel
and are cut off / cropped.

[Bug 1325681] [NEW] Mailwatch Plugin Ceases to Function after Recognizing One New Email

2014-06-02 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

under xubuntu 14.04 (64bit), the mailwatch plugin has a serious issue.
during a session, the mailwatch plugin will eventually notify me about
new mail, but after the initial notification, the mailwatch plugin will
no longer function until i log out & log back in again, or sometimes
even until i restart the machine. the icon will remain blue and it will
not update automatically or manually. this renders the panel plugin
useless after one notification. i even removed the plugin from the
panel, reinstalled it through synaptic and added my email accounts back
to it one by one. this did not remedy the issue.

version of xfce4-mailwatch-plugin = 1.2.0-1
what i expect to happen = for the mailwatch plugin to work flawlessly, as it
did in 13.10.
what happened instead = the mailwatch plugin is rendered useless after noticing
one new email.

Confirming as well. Checks within the checkboxes are not visibile,
though if I log back out and log back in, sometimes the icon I clicked
the "hide" checkbox next to, is actually hidden. The checkboxes do not
ever appear to indicate this though.

[Bug 1659623] Re: Shutdown/reboot hang on Dell XPS 15 9550 BIOS 1.2.18+

2017-02-10 Thread Ang Bongsong
I was experiencing the exact same issue on my Precision 7510 under
Xenial, after transitioning to the rolling HWE & Kernel stack. On a
hunch I added the Canonical Kernel Team PPA (https://launchpad.net
/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages) so I could
upgrade from kernel 4.8.0-36 to 4.8.0-37. Now shutdown and reboot are
working perfectly. Not sure if I should file a separate bug report.

[Bug 1584557] Re: Seagate external drive causes SCSI bus resets when UAS enabled

2017-02-13 Thread Ang Bongsong
I've been seeing issues like this with a bevy of external drives hooked
up through USB, on every single GNU/Linux distribution that is running
kernel 4.3 or later. Sadly, this even affects recent releases of distros
that exist solely to *repair* disks, like SystemRescueCD. Extremely
frustrating, and I hope Ubuntu is the first distribution to release some
kind of lasting fix or workaround.

[Bug 1443520] [NEW] "Arrange Desktop Icons" Results in Icons Like "Filesystem" Being Inaccessible & Moved Off-Screen

2015-04-13 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

OS: Xubuntu 14.04
Package Version: 4.12.0-1ubuntu1~14.04

Clicking on the "Arrange Desktop Icons" item in the right-click / fly-
out menu on the Xfce desktop, results in icons like "Home",
"Filesystem", and drives under "Removeable Devices" being moved off-
screen to an area of the desktop that is inaccessible (i.e. the items
can not be dragged back into place, or moved at all). The only way to
remedy the issue is by un-clicking and re-clicking the appropriate
entries in Desktop Settings > Icons. This is occurring with the packages
via the Xubuntu Developers team's Xfce 4.12 ppa (https://launchpad.net

[Bug 1449094] [NEW] When Placed on a Bottom-Aligned Panel, Menus from Indicator Plugins Function Improperly

2015-04-27 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

Though this is obviously related to this bug;
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-indicator-
plugin/+bug/1416843 I'm not sure if It's a duplicate, so I'm still
reporting it.

Basically, after a menu element changes in an indicator plugin's menu,
on a bottom-aligned panel, the menu will show up either far away from
the panel (as in, completely disconnected from it), or as in the
previous report, directly over and obscuring the panel. Here is a
screenshot of the former condition: http://i.imgur.com/xyaNZ0p.png

As you can see, the Sound Menu indicator has been activated, but its
menu appears quite removed from the panel, and the indicator itself.
Strangely, I have not encountered this issue when my panel is placed at
the top of the screen. Could this have something to do with Unity's
panel being top-aligned? Not sure, but it can be pretty annoying.

Xubuntu version: 14.04.2
Xfce version: 4.12 (via the Xubuntu Developers' 4.12 PPA)
xfce4-indicator-plugin version: 2.3.3

P.S. This is something that also occurred before I upgraded to Xfce

[Bug 1449100] [NEW] Blueman Does not Remember Last On/Off State after Reboot

2015-04-27 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

This is currently occurring with Blueman 1.23 under Xubuntu 14.04.2 and
Xfce 4.12, but I've noticed the issue in previous releases as well.

Basically, after a shutdown or reboot, bluetooth will be On by default
in Blueman, even if its last state was Off. If I simply log out and back
into my session though, Blueman will remember its state. I have to run a
simple startup script (sleep 7 && rfkill block bluetooth) in order to
have bluetooth off in Blueman by default. There should be a preference
for this in Blueman, as having bluetooth enabled at startup can be a
security issue for some users, and well, why not have the choice

[Bug 1449107] [NEW] Even if pulseaudio-module-bluetooth is Installed, it is Not Loaded by Default on Startup

2015-04-27 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

This is currently occurring with pulseaudio 1:4.0 under Xubuntu 14.04.2

Even though "load-module module-bluetooth-discover" is present by

always must be manually loaded via entering "pactl load-module module-
bluetooth-discover" in a terminal prompt, or running a script which does
that on startup (after a roughly 8 second sleep period). Without the

[Bug 1449110] [NEW] Pulse Audio Volume Control (pavucontrol) Does not Remember Any Settings for Bluetooth Audio Devices

Public bug reported:

This is currently occurring with pavucontrol 2.0-2, and pulseaudio
1:4.0, under Xubuntu 14.04.2 and Xfce 4.12.

Pretty self-explanatory. No settings for Bluetooth audio devices are
remembered. Volume, Audio profile (Telephony vs. High Fidelity) etc...
After a reboot, or disconnecting the device and such, I must manually
set the audio profile to use in pavucontrol or Blueman, and adjust the
volume for the device in pavucontrol's interface.

Related pictures:

Just discovered that this is a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1274613. The
problem does occur with the default Blueman package in Trusty, but
installing the package mentioned in

does indeed resolve the issue. Perhaps the Blueman package should be
upgrade for Trusty users in the repos.

Public bug reported:

This is currently occurring with pavucontrol 2.0-2, and pulseaudio
1:4.0, under Xubuntu 14.04.2 and Xfce 4.12.

Simply, the only way I can get audio playing on Bluetooth devices is by
setting it to A2DP (High Fidelity Playback). If I switch it to HSP/HFP,
I hear the sound for less than a second, then it goes completely mute.
Strangely PulseAudio Volume Control will show it as streaming to the
device. I've checked the volume and it doesn't matter whether it's at 1%
or 100%. No sound after a few milliseconds.

** Affects: pavucontrol (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1500768] Re: python3.4.3 SRU break requests

2015-10-08 Thread Ang Bongsong
Like Bill Miller (#19) I downgraded via the suggestion in #16, and it
broke [amongst other things] Software Updater, Software & Updates (which
also affects Synaptic, in that its interface for managing repositories
becomes inaccessible). I had to temporarily enable trusty proposed via
adding it to /etc/apt/sources.list, and upgrade the packages again. This
is a terribly annoying situation, and really should not be happening on
an LTS release.

[Bug 1523749] [NEW] xfce4-session from the Xfce 4.12 Xubuntu Developers PPA Needs Updating/Recompiling

2015-12-07 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

There is a pesky bug when using xfce 4.12 under xubuntu, where Qt
applications do not pick up on the Gtk or icon themes that the rest of
the system uses. It was pointed out on xfce's bugzilla that it is simply
due to a compilation flag, and the problem can easily be remedied by not
utilizing the troublesome flag. see more here:

[Bug 1328244] [NEW] Duplicate TitleBars in Gtk3 Applications

2014-06-09 Thread Ang Bongsong
Public bug reported:

There's an annoying redundancy and usability issue regarding Gtk3
applications under Xfce in Xubuntu. Most Gtk3 applications sport 2 title
bars. Here are some screenshots:

Deja Dup: http://i5.minus.com/iS7enWsFloCjG.png
Archive Manager: http://i4.minus.com/iznC4vTbwkEp9.png

I'm sure you notice the problem here.

Xubuntu release: 14.04
Xfwm4 version: 4.11.1-2ubuntu2
Expectation: WIndows should have only one title bar, as per usual.
Reality: Certain windows have two title bars.

If it's a duplicate, let me apologize in advance. I couldn't be sure. Hoping

[Bug 1292290] Re: Window manager keybindings don't work after reboot

2014-07-02 Thread Ang Bongsong
None of the workarounds posted solve this issue for me (I'm under
Xubuntu 14.04). Thankfully I set up a good deal of shortcuts back on
13.10, but there were some I left out which I'd love to get working now
(specifically the shortcuts for tiling windows). Hope this bug gets
fixed soon.

[Bug 1325681] Re: Mailwatch Plugin Ceases to Function after Recognizing One New Email

2014-07-24 Thread Ang Bongsong
Issue seems to have disappeared. Don't know how, why or even when
exactly, but I tried it out again today and mailwatch seems to be
working fine. Might have been an issue with one of my email accounts
causing a problem (I know pop3 accounts can cause problems for a lot of
mail notification programs, so it could have been that).
