Just discovered that this is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1274613. The problem does occur with the default Blueman package in Trusty, but installing the package mentioned in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1274613/comments/20, does indeed resolve the issue. Perhaps the Blueman package should be upgrade for Trusty users in the repos.
