[Bug 220013] Re: [hardy] Kernel panic with Zydas wifi and kernel 2.6.24
This bug also affects me on 2.6.24-19-generic with my usb 0ACE:1215 ZyDAS WLA-54L WiFi. However, it only occurs when I'm using network- manager. When I just apt-get remove network-manager and configure my wireless connection manually (with dhcp) in /etc/networking/interface my computer won't crash. (Fortunatly I don't roam arround with this box.) However, from time to time my USB WiFi somehow disconnects or resets (I mean the USB part, not the WiFi part). This is where with Network Manager installed my computer would usually crash. In dmesg it shows up like this: [33077.260001] hub 2-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... [33077.260020] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 2 [33077.270924] zd1211rw 2-1:1.0: error ioread32(CR_REG1): -22 [33077.434633] usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 [33077.602972] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [33077.722273] usb 2-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 [33077.905861] zd1211rw 2-1:1.0: eth1 [33086.671105] hub 2-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... So there might be some problem in network-manager too? Has anyone else here tried uninstalling network-manager and configuring their devices manually? I will reinstall network-manager now and see if I can get some sort of log output that can help pinpointing this problem. ** Attachment added: "dmesg output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17045180/dmesg.txt -- [hardy] Kernel panic with Zydas wifi and kernel 2.6.24 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220013 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 123064] Re: Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4.1
Actually, when using the dropins directory to install plug-ins manually in a system-wide installation (let's say, you have Eclipse 3.4.1 installed in /usr/lib/eclipse with root permissions, and install jdt and pde in the dropins dir also with root permissions) then afaik those plug-ins installed there can co-exist peacefully with upgrade versions of plug-ins that are installed in .eclipse through the P2 Update Manager. So, if you'd have eclipse-platform, jdt en pde installed from the repo, suposing jdt and pde are installed as dropins, then you can update those plugins through the Update Manager without any problem. The updated .jars are just placed in .eclipse. So no problems there. -- Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4.1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123064 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Kevin, please test in EXA mode. On the [8086:2a02] (rev 0c) setting AccelMethod to "UXA" acually fixes things, at the cost of a 25% performance penalty. Like Martin said, you should ideally test from a LiveCD or a fresh untouched install. If you can't be bothered to reinstall Ubuntu or run a LiveCD, at least test in EXA mode with Greedy Migration disabled. [Bug 251665] [NEW] Fn keys on VAIO VGN-NR230 don't produce ACPI events
Public bug reported: I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NR230AE. It's a Brazilian VAIO model, not sure whether it's available in America but in Brazil it's _very_ popular. Right from the start after installing Ubuntu 8.04 I noticed that *only* the volume and Scroll Lock Fn-keys work. None of the others does anything. After some searching around I found bug #176888 and bug #173652. After following the instructions in those bug reports I do manage to change the brightness levels using xbacklight... But the Fn keys still don't work. So after going through https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HotkeyResearch I finally discovered that in fact my Fn keys aren't producing any ACPI events or magic numbers, using any of the methods described there. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NR230AE. Did you allready try the Intrepid Beta? Big chance it's fixed there. I made my own packages of Eclipse and a bunch of plugins using the release tarballs from eclipse.org: https://edge.launchpad.net/~yogarine/+archive/ppa I did this because from my experience installing Eclipse and then installing all the plugins you want is always a big hassle that can take up a whole hour. [Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices
Problem still persists for me in Gutsy. I connect my PSP and all seems well, I can even copy stuff from my PSP to the computer with 2.0 speed without any problem. But when I try to copy a file to the PSP it starts to give I/O errors. Either while copying (in case of a large file) or while unmounting (if I copied a small file, and it was still in the write cache). I attached my dmesg output: [ 4302.993322] is the point where I started copying from the PC to my PSP. ** Attachment added: "dmesg_bug88746.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10214839/dmesg_bug88746.txt -- ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices
I just want to remind people that: 1.) For many people the autosuspend fix doesn't resolve this bug (for me it didn't) 2.) This bug may also be caused by low quality cables. For example, a low quality 1.1 cable will give I/O errors when connecting a USB 2.0 device with it. Actually, I think that quite a lot of cases of this bug are caused by low quality cables and/or wiring. So if you notice that you experience this problem in both Windows and Linux, please check if your USB cables are _real_ USB 2.0 cables. Also, if you're using the cases front plugs, try the plugs in the back. Chance is the wiring inside your PC case is of low quality. So a fallback to uhci_hcd would resolve point 2, and temporarily fix 1 while it still isn't solved. Fixing this bug _soon_ is more important than fixing it _ the proper way_. Most Normal People care more about the fact that their device works than transfer speed. -- ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Martin: You changed the status to "fix released"... However I haven't seen any relevant update so far, not even in gutsy-proposed. On my 64-bit system the bug still exists. (Still have to test it on 32-bit) Was a fix actually released? I mean you aren't even a member of the kernel team, why did you change the status?
