[Bug 72116] Re: Bibletime installation defaults in Arabic

2006-11-17 Thread Caroline Ford
http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/kde/bibletime

The recommends are sword-comm, sword-dict and sword-text, which are
virtual packages which can be provided by several different packages.

There are 14 different packages that provide the sword-text component:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/virtual/sword-text

sword-text-arasvd is indeed in Arabic. sword-text-kjv (2.2-2) and sword-
text-web (1.4-3) are in English.

2006-11-17 Thread hans_olo
I have tried to solve the rejected hunks. All but one were trivial, can
someone please have a look at this, if I did the right thing:

I tried to integrate include/asm-i386/page.h.rej into
include/asm-i386/page.h.orig. I ended up with include/asm-i386/page.h. I
have attached these three files. I also attached the resulting patch.

[Bug 19775] Re: Missing hostname in /etc/hosts causes sudo to fail

2006-11-17 Thread corey
yes, the sudo failed on getnamebyhost()。

This is maybe terrible, because you must get the root power by grub (recover
mode)
and fix the /etc/hosts file to correctly. Or you almost can't do anything(a lot
of things need use the sudo command).

[Bug 26677] Re: Update Manager does not install updates

2006-11-17 Thread Markku Korkeala
I can confirm this bug. I did a clean edgy install couple of weeks ago.
Update-manager informs correctly about new packages, but when I click
install packages it just examines, last thing it prints is Reading state
information and then goes back to shot the upgradable packages. To
console it prints:

$ sudo update-manager
warning: could not initiate dbus

And when I click install packages:
could not send the dbus Inhibit signal: Did not receive a reply. Possible
causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus
security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network
connection was broken.

[Bug 72143] please revert startup sounds

2006-11-17 Thread Matthew East
Public bug reported:

I hope this is the right package to report this on. The startup sounds
in Edgy are nowhere near as nice as the ones we had in previous
releases. I don't want to disrespect the author, who I think did a good
job considering it was (as I understand it) a community contribution,
but the old sounds were much more relaxing, professional and above all
*memorable*. Also, they didn't have any corny symbals in them. Can we
have them back?

I think keeping the startup sound consistent will improve the marketing
of Ubuntu as an operating system - people will associate it with the
sound, just as they do with Windows.

I remember the interview with Mark that was shown on English TV focused
on the (old) startup sound as something that users might be hearing more
and more in place of the annoying Windows startup sound.

[Bug 72145] Broken default configuration

2006-11-17 Thread Tero Karvinen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: larswm

Larswm default configuration opens to a desktop that does not work. Even
logging out without rebooting is difficult.

To reproduce on 6.06 LTS Dapper
1) $ sudo apt-get install larswm
2) MainMenu: Quit: Switch User
3) (On login screen): Session: larswm. Type username and password normally.

What should happen: You should get a usable desktop. Starting programs
should be easy. There should be a way of logging out. Window placement
should work as adverticed.

What actually happens (the bug): Blank (blue) screen, with gray status
line on the bottom. Only thing that works is changing workspace by
rolling wheel on the status line, but even that's not obvious. There
seems to be no way to start programs. Mouse buttons do nothing. Keyboard
seems to do nothing. There is no way to log out.

What should be done: Provide a default configuration that works. Make it
easy to start programs and log out. Make window placement work
automatically.

[Bug 41340] Re: X server (S3 Savage) freezing with DRI

2006-11-17 Thread Tormod Volden
Does the machine hang completely, or just the screen and keyboard? Can
you try to ssh in from another machine, before starting X with dri
enabled? You might try running "sudo cat /proc/kmsg" in the ssh session
to see if any error messages appear. You can also (before starting X)
unload the savage and drm modules, and reload the drm module with
"modprobe drm debug=1" which gives a lot of debug messages.

2006-11-17 Thread Daniel Moyne
This is where I stand with the "black screen" (with no way to regain
control other than pushing on RESET button on computer) at boot :

(1) this is not systematic as I can for example have 5 to 6 normal boot session
until I exprerience a failure.
(2) when I have a normal session running I may have a prefect hardware
rendering with my video card when executing :
$ fgl_glxgears
or I may observe some slight freezing effect in cube motion but not all the
time during the same session.

All this is very puzzling !

Cyrillic input works perfect only when I run the program with "export
LANG=en_US.UTF-8" command before it.
So, I found a temporary workaround, but the problem still exists.

[Bug 72152] ifupdown script fails to terminate wpasupplicant

2006-11-17 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wpasupplicant

Hi,

I am using wpasupplicant in the roaming mode as described in
README.modes.

Taking the interface up works (manual method as described).

But then, when taking down the interface, the script fails to terminate
the wpasupplicant and the wpa_cli. Thus, after taking down the
interface, those deamons keep running.

The next time the interface is taken up, the up script detects a running
daemon and again does nothing, i.e. fails.

The reason might be that the script checks for the presence of a running
wpa_cli in a very early stage and exits if one exist, even in the if-
down phase.

When the script immediately terminates if a wpa_cli is running, it
obviously does not terminate the daemon.

regards

[Bug 72154] Install directoy for headers erroneous

2006-11-17 Thread chwlerche
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libdcmtk1-dev

I found that all headers and subdirectories has been installed in
/usr/include/dcmtk/dcmtk/ instead of /usr/include/dcmtk/.
When compiling applications (i.e. amide) the compiler exits due to non-existent
headers that actually were present on muy system.

Simply moving all the contents of /usr/include/dcmtk/dcmtk/ to
/usr/include/dcmtk/
solved the problem in muy case.

[Bug 72153] [Regression] Bad resolution choices on Edgy live CD

2006-11-17 Thread Johan Walles
Public bug reported:

Using the Edgy live CD, I get a poor selection of resolutions, with the
following as the least bad choice:
 SZ:Pixels Physical Refresh
*0 1024 x 768( 361mm x 271mm ) *60

On the currently running Dapper system, I'm running with:
 SZ:Pixels Physical Refresh
*0 1600 x 1200 ( 363mm x 272mm ) *85 75 70 65 60

Having to run at [EMAIL PROTECTED] is a showstopper for me to upgrade to

[Bug 72156] The file /usr/share/doc-base/glibc-manual exists in glibc-doc

2006-11-17 Thread thingy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: glibc-doc-reference

If you try to install glibc-doc-reference while glibc-doc is already
installed, you get a dpkg error stating that the /usr/share/doc-base
/glibc-manual file already exists in the glibc-doc package.

The way around it for people right now is:

1. Rename the /usr/share/doc-base/glibc-manual to /usr/share/doc-base
/glibc-manual-original

2. Run dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/glibc-doc-
reference*.deb

3. Rename the new /usr/share/doc-base/glibc-manual to /usr/share/doc-
base/glibc-manual-reference

4. Rename the /usr/share/doc-base/glibc-manual-original to /usr/share
/doc-base/glibc-manual

It would be nice if this minor bug was fixed in the debs themselves. I
guess only the glibc-doc-reference deb needs changing.

[Bug 72158] New Doxygen Release 1.5.1

2006-11-17 Thread Marco Paulo Martins Sousa
Public bug reported:

Sorry, this version is allready in Feisty.

** Affects: doxygen (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Rejected

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: doxygen
-
- Doxygen Release 1.5.1
- (release date 29-10-2006)
-
- You this version instead 1.4.7-1.
-
-
- Bug fixes: (1.5.1)
- * id 148567: @todo at the end of a comment block caused problem when
copied by @copydoc
- * id 352420: Fixed bug in LaTeX output (missing space after \bf).
- * id 363227: missing output for instance variables defined in a Python
function that has a doc string
- * id 363397: Member groups did not appear in a class when SUBGROUPING was
set to YES.
- * id 364341: Parsing could become really slow if often included header
files contained using statements.
- * id 364673: The values of two enums with the same name (both in
difference scopes) where merged.
- * The version of dot shipped with the Mac binary had some non-standard
dependencies.
- * Doxywizard didn't work on PC's where no Visual Studio 2005 was present,
when build with the project files (I'm now using /MT instead of /MD which fixes
this issue).
- * Running 2 instances of doxygen on the same output directory caused
corruption of the temporary files generated by doxygen.
-
-
- Changes: (1.5.0)
- * cleaned up the internal structures to make them smaller, and made doxygen
use a temporary file to store the parse results (instead of keeping them in
memory), which will further reduce the memory usage, especially for large
projects, and is a first step towards incremental parsing.
-
- New features:
-
- * Added example application that shows how to configure and run doxygen
from within an application and use the information collected by doxygen without
also generating the output (see addon/doxyapp).
- * id 322467: Sections produces by \note, \warning, \remarks etc, now have
a class label in the generated HTML ( tag) so you can give them a distinct
style using a non-default stylesheet (i.e. using HTML_STYLESHEET).
- * Added project files for building doxygen from Visual Studio 2005 (see
winbuild dir).
- * added translator updates for Czech, Danish, German, Catalan, Croatian,
French, Japanese, and Italian.
- * added translator support for Arabic (thanks to Moaz Reyad)
- * added translator support for Persian (thanks to Ali Nadalizadeh)
-
- * Bug Fixes:
- * id 131445: Fixed autolinking for related functions.
- * id 137236: Updated documentation to make it clear that a lower-case
only word is not a candidate for autolinking.
- * id 141758: Fixed a problem parsing contructs outside of
functions in PHP.
- * id 319169: Second level index not shown when DISABLE_INDEX=YES.
- * id 325337: Added "optimize output for C#" option to Doxywizard.
- * id 325426: Partial C# class inside a namespace where not handled
properly.
- * id 327358: Fixed wrong link to the search engine when CREATE_SUBDIRS
was set to YES.
- * id 326885: Leading ///'s ended up in code fragments when using indented
/// comments.
- * id 330513: For file documentation, the scope not stripped for namespace
members even if HIDE_SCOPE_NAMES was set to YES.
- * id 335131: Fixed "internal inconsistency" warning related to use of
nested classes defined outside a used namespace.
- * id 338475: Added support for Q_SIGNALS and Q_SLOTS macros (thanks to
Thomas Zander for the patch).
- * id 340973: Improved performance of "Computing template instances" step
significantly in case of (large) Java projects.
- * id 342090: Fixed missing cross-reference to "m" for code of the form
f(a[s.f]->m)
- * id 33: Code font commands where not treated properly in C# style
comments.
- * id 35: Made it more clear in the documentation where the XML
commands in the comment blocks are for, and how works in C#.
- * id 345322: DOTFONTPATH was corrupted in mingw builds.
- * id 345519: Fixed problem parsing attributes in C#.
- * id 345660: Python class members that spanned multiple lines could
confuse the parser.
- * id 345742: enum values were shown twice in some cases.
- * is 346095: Forced a newline before \normalsize in the LaTeX to avoid
font size issues.
- * id 346848: Under certain conditions nesting of groups did not work
properly.
- * id 347444: paramref XML command did not render properly.
- * id 348259: Doxygen now keeps the _formulas.log file when there is a
problem generating bitmaps for formulas. This can help to identify the problem
quicker.
- * id 348481: friend class in unnamed namespace produced bogus error.
- * id 348537: Fixed internal inconsistency warning that could occur when
reopening an anonymous namespace
- * id 349867: Fixed issue handling brief and detailed description when
both are positioned after an item.
- * id 350168: Doxygen didn't parse C# type contraints properly.

[Bug 72159] obsolete Line6 driver included

2006-11-17 Thread Markus Grabner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic

The kernel contains the obsolete "podxtpro" driver for access to Line6
hardware. The driver has been renamed to "line6usb" since more devices
are supported now. Users keep reporting problems to me if they manually
upgrade the driver to the most recent version since due to the name
change they have both instances running on their machines then, which
messes up the USB subsystem.

The most recent version of the "line6usb" driver can be found at this
URL:

http://www.tanzband-scream.at/line6

Moreover, the driver is included in the directory
"kernel/drivers/media/video", which is not really appropriate. It should
better be in some audio section, or in "kernel/drivers/usb/misc" if
nothing else fits.

Do you happen to use 'wpa-roam'? in this case, use 'wpa_action $IFACE
stop' to bring down your interface.

[Bug 72161] emacs uses 100% cpu

2006-11-17 Thread Gianluca Della Vedova
Public bug reported:

If I stop typing for a few seconds, emacs starts using 100% of the cpu.
As soon as I resume typing the cpu use returns to normal values.

In my case to reproduce the bug I simply have to start emacs-snapshot-

I also would like to know what I can do to further investigate the

2006-11-17 Thread Tor Bendiksen
I have tried both rc13-0ubuntu1 and rc13-0ubuntu2 and neither seems to
be populating /dev/mapper for me on my SI 3112 fakeraid adapter. If I
boot with break=mount (or wait until I'm dumped into a busybox shell), I
can see that dmraid is picking up my raid set with dmraid -tay, but
dmraid -ay does not populate /dev/mapper, hence I can't boot.

[Bug 72044] Re: firefox crash using xubuntu-desktop

2006-11-17 Thread Holger H. Wenner
It worked fine between those crashes, even with plugins installed and
even on flashsites. I can say this for kubuntu and ubuntu.

Let me explain it more detailed:

I started with dapper working only in ubuntu desktop
after that i upgraded to edgy still ubuntu an run into the firefox
flash-problem.

searched and found https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+ticket/1817

and fixed it and even installed flash V 9.

Then i desided to try out xubuntu and kubuntu and installed both and
then the first crash occured:

It was the first time I started firefox after a restart and
installing xubuntu-desktop and
kubuntu-desktop and was choosing xubuntu for the session

>From there on I only used kubuntu. Afer a few updates and installations I ran
>into
the above xorg.conf problem again but now under ubuntu.

I fixed it again and it worked again.

Well, then I loged into xubuntu and then the second crash occured:

After the first crash, I was only using kubuntu-desktop an now after
just loging in I got the
following crash file without even starting anything

On my opinion those crashes have nothing to do with flash. At least the
second crash startet directly after login in and without starting
firefox at all.

I hope this helped

Reinhard, since I was curious as well, I've been looking at the code
