Bug#596761: Xorg crash and 2D rendering problems with fglrx-driver/glx
Package: fglrx-driver Version: 1:10-8-1 Severity: important I've installed fglrx-driver and (or?) -glx. After reboot, I'm having (among other things) the following problems directly related (as far as I can tell anyway) to the graphics adapter driver: * Fade effects when exiting gdm3 and entering xmonad are slow. Not extremely so, but still noticeably slower than with radeon(-hd). * Minor to major 2D rendering problems in conkeror (the xulrunner-based browser, that is), making thick black "shadows" around some input boxes, sometimes rendering entire web pages black, and thus the text unreadable until marked. * Crash or possibly freeze (black screen, sometimes with, sometimes without the possibility of switching to console and restarting X) when launching openarena (though warsow ran without any problems that I could notice). These problems were also present in the version still in testing. -- Package-specific info: VGA-compatible devices on PCI bus: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV770 [Radeon HD 4850] DRM and fglrx Informations from dmesg: [0.00] No AGP bridge found [0.726708] Linux agpgart interface v0.103 [ 12.145392] fglrx: module license 'Proprietary. Thanks a lot, I'll make sure to fix that in the next upload. One question regarding the files in src/lib/eina/*: except for one (eina_str.c), the presence of the MIT license in those files is because they say "This file incorporates work covered by the following copyright and permission notices: " right after the text of the LGPL license. In that case, is it enough to just mention License: LPGL in debian/copyright? If it's not, do you know of any way to specify multiple licenses for a single file using the DEP-5 format? Reading the spec, I'm not really sure I see how one is supposed to do that. Thanks, -- Albin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". The funny thing though is that edje_cc is the exact same version as the previous time, which built correctly. I've tried reproducing the failure on the ppc porterbox, to no avail; things work fine there. I don't really know what's next; do you have any suggestion on what we could try? The bugreport talks about the '--replace' option not working, but there's never been such an option in E17. Was that meant to be a feature request for the software? All things considered, it looks like what you're looking for is actually a way to tell xfce to use e17 as a file manager instead of xfwm. I don't know XFCE very well, but isn't it possible to disable xfwm and use the regular applications autostart mechanism to start e17? Hello again! I tried rebooting with an older kernel version to see if my problem was a kernel bug, and it worked fine with Linux 3.0.0. The only problem was that when I booted into Linux 3.1.0-1, suspend/resume worked again! Whatever's changed, the bug now seems to be gone. If it was indeed a bug in Linux 3.1.0, it was fixed in -1. Package: xmonad Version: 0.10-4+b2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, Since a recent update, xmonad won't compile its xmonad.hs. Bug#685846: virtualbox: Hangs when running either the VirtualBox command or launching the GUI manager
Package: virtualbox Version: 4.1.18-dfsg-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Since a recent upgrade, VirtualBox no longer starts at all for me. When trying to set the shortcut using the UI I was unable to set a shortcut using alt and shift in the same shortcut. By pressing ctrl first make it possible to create shortcut containing ctrl and either shift or alt, but not booth; the UI doesn't register that the third modifier is pressed. Can't create shortcut containing just alt and shift, the application just resets the input-field for the keys. The problem occurs for other keys than up/right/down/left, like the modifiers in combination with 'p'. Tried to manually change `~/.config/kglobalshortcutsrc` by adding `Alt` to the shortcuts and saving the text file. But after restarting Kwin the file was restored and the changes removed. * What was the outcome of this action? It isn't possible to set keyboard shortcuts with the modifiers shift and alt. * What outcome did you expect instead? Being able to set keyboard shortcuts contain both Alt and Shift. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages systemsettings depends on: ii kio 5.28.0-1 ii libc6 2.24-9 ii libkf5auth5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5completion5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5configcore5 5.28.0-1+b2 ii libkf5configgui5 5.28.0-1+b2 ii libkf5configwidgets5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5coreaddons5 5.28.0-1+b2 ii libkf5dbusaddons5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5i18n5 5.28.0-1+b2 ii libkf5iconthemes5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5itemviews5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5kcmutils5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5khtml5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5kiowidgets5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5service-bin 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5service55.28.0-1 ii libkf5widgetsaddons5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5windowsystem5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5xmlgui5 5.28.0-1 ii libqt5core5a 5.7.1+dfsg-3+b1 ii libqt5dbus5 5.7.1+dfsg-3+b1 ii libqt5gui55.7.1+dfsg-3+b1 ii libqt5widgets55.7.1+dfsg-3+b1 ii libstdc++66.3.0-6 systemsettings recommends no packages. systemsettings suggests no packages. -- no debconf information

Indeed, the generated pdf looks fine. Reading the log file, what I think is that pdflatex is exiting with a non-null error code because of several errors in the latex source, even if it seems to somehow cope with it and generate (from what I've seen) a correct pdf. I came up with a workaround, although it's far, far from an ideal fix (but I don't know latex nor doxygen and makefile enough to come with a proper one). Basically wrap pdflatex in the debian/ folder, and call the real pdflatex || true, like this (in the 'build' target) echo '#!/bin/sh' > debian/pdflatex echo '$(new_pdflatex) "$$@" || true' >> debian/pdflatex chmod 755 debian/pdflatex PATH=$(CURDIR)/debian:$(shell echo $(PATH)) make Cheers -- Albin Tonnerre signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#506862: Still having problems with version 1.1.22+dfsg-1
I built the new version suggested, but inspircd still dies, printing the message " Usage: /usr/sbin/inspircd [--nofork] [--nolog] [--debug] [--logfile ] [--runasroot] [--version] [--config ]" , seemingly regardless of input configuration file if tailing >/dev/null is removed from init script, and dies silently otherwise (obviously, since that output is printed to /dev/null). This applies to obviously invalid configuration files, my own supposedly-valid one and the example file here: http://www.inspircd.org/wiki/Annotated_Configuration. The same applies to the binary inspircd, seemingly regardless of command line parameters. Could I have miscompiled the package somehow? Note that I am getting these problems when compiling inspircd from svn- or stable unaltered source packages also, but the developers don't seem to have heard of the problem before, so I figured it might be debian-related somehow. If it's any help, I'm having the exact same problem on amd64. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I still don't get it. As far as I can see, all the problems you're descibing relates to your menu, not to whatever lib is in charge of parsing it. Efreet merely does what your menu file asks for. The part of the spec efreet is meant to implement is how to parse the menu, the meaning of the tags that can be found and what to do with it, not how the menu itself is structured, which is clearly your issue there. The *only* thing responsible for including or excluding applications with the Audio or Video category is the .menu file e17 is using. If a particular .desktop is not shown on the desktop, it's because the .menu has no rule matching it (or because of a bug in efreet's code, like #514018, but unlikely related to the specification itself) > Please feel free to ask for more examples, it seems I am not able to > pass the message, sorry. I don't think this is necessary. However, I'd like to see what menu file e17 is using. You can find that out by running the following command: eet -d .e/e/config//e.cfg config /dev/stdout | grep default_system_menu If the result is empty, it's using either ~/.config/menus/applications.menu , /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu , or /etc/xdg/menus/e17-applications.menu (sorted). I suspect it's using the e17-provided menu, which would actually cause your issue Regards, -- Albin Tonnerre signature.asc Description: Digital signature

This is unfortunate, as on my machine, at least synaptic.desktop, polkit-gnome-authorization.desktop and gparted.desktop are among them, and if I was actually using a menu, I would miss them. I think I'd better keep Settings and Administration from the previous menu instead. Thanks, but something, I have no idea what, seems to have fixed it. grub-probe now detects / to /dev/mapper/nyx-root as expected, and the setup of grub-pc seems to run fine (I haven’t tried a reboot yet, though). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#544731: "error: no such disk" renders system unbootable
Package: grub-pc Version: 1.97~beta1-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hello, After installing grub-pc, the system (using /boot and / on LVM) fails to boot with the following error: Entering rescue mode... error: no such disk This is not particularly related to grub 1.97, as I've been experiencing this for some time now. Lilo is able to boot the system correctly. If there's anything I can do to help you fix this, please let me know. After running apt-get install --reinstall grub-pc, lvm is now listed in /boot/grub/grub.cfg, and grub2 is able to boot the system correctly. Please don't close the bug, though - this has happened to me several times in the past, and running grub-install after a couple grub-pc updates resulted in the same kind of error. I absolutely have no clue as to what just happened there. Regards, -- Albin Tonnerre -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
