The bugreport talks about the '--replace' option not working, but there's never been such an option in E17. Was that meant to be a feature request for the software? All things considered, it looks like what you're looking for is actually a way to tell xfce to use e17 as a file manager instead of xfwm. I don't know XFCE very well, but isn't it possible to disable xfwm and use the regular applications autostart mechanism to start e17?
