If I understand Roy correctly he want a shootout ie. an engine vs engine 
game from a given position. For this currently no function exists. Steve 
mentioned that he's working on/has something like that in Scid vs PC. In

One could, but here it gets a bit "not so straight forward", try to hook 
up the second engine as input engine. I never tried that, but input 
engine protocol is actually a superset (ie. it just knows some more 
commandsma) of UCI and xboard like "getposition" or "getclock".
