Hello,
I've posted this query once before and something happend with my redhat
list. Well I'm going to repost it again. Everytime I log into redhat I have
no sound. I get and error with Kde saying that is was unable to open the i/o
device and that it would continue to use the null output device. I had sound
when i first installed redhat 7.3. since then, i did a clean installation of
redhat 8.0 and i again get the same error. I've done the sndconfig thing and
i still have no luck. modprobing doesn't work either. i do have an onboard
soundcard but it's been disabled in BIOS. I am using a Yamaha Legacy DS1
with the YMF74XX drivers. or that's what linux is loading for it. I looked
on the Yamaha website and they don't have any drivers for the Linux OS. Can
anyone help me with this problem. I want to avoid having to buy another
soundcard if possible.

P.S. My sound card works under Windows.
