Thanks Rick. This is not an mhash compile issue.
This is totally a PHP recompile issue. I get the same problem when the PHP 
src rpm is compiled AS IS with NO changes to the spec file.

This is what the logs pretty much say.

bash$>cat bb.log | grep sendmail
checking for sendmail... no

Everything is RedHat defaults. I would have installed 
php-mhash-4.2.2-8.0.5.rpm if they made one, believe me. LOL
