He was /dev/null-ing your e-mail (most likely because something you said
offended him).

Many people here are pros to one degree or another. It's probably considered
rude to solicit advice with that subject line because it implies that those
who may respond may not have a valuable contribution. It's easier on
everyone to ask the question and filter out the noise for what you need.
With a list like this you're bound to get a variety of responses, some which
are bound to be correct (the rest will learn from those correct responses).

As for Mr Burgiss's filters - they too are becoming an annoyance. If you
don't like it - delete it. Procmailing it by yourself is one thing (and
entirely private), but openly sharing the rules with the list is more like
covert retaliation to the offending sender than helping others. If the
e-mail is that offensive, take it offline and deal with it personally.
