My cable connections goes into a LinkSys modem first, and from there it connects
through ethernet to whichever computer I want it on. I figured I may be able to just
connect the linux box to it, and have the second NIC handle the internal network, yes?
I just wasn't sure if there were any particular caveats I should be aware of before I
do this.

Another choice would be to get a LinkSys router and link up the modem to the
oruter, and then a hub to that router. Ah the possibilities.
