this may be a naive question but, what exactly would AOL get from *buying* red hat, as opposed to simply *using* red hat. after all, given the GPL nature of red hat, certainly they have the right to build any technology around red hat that they want, provided that they don't violate the terms of the GPL. and they can do that without buying any part of red hat.
