Close. The 486 should do fine, especially if you don't
install X. As for the USB, you still have the same problem
-- you can't use that modem under linux. It doesn't have
drivers for linux!

As for drivespace, I'd say 1-2 gig should be more than
sufficient. But that's a "bare" install. Also, I'd see
about installing the Bastille patches to a fresh RedHat
install (www.bastille-linux.org.) What is Bastille? While
I've never used it myself, my understanding is that it
"hardens" a fresh RedHat install and helps make a good
firewall system.
