as a followup to a previous post of mine, when i complained about
my one-year-old inspiron 7500 having an lcd panel that was already
starting to act flaky, when i called dell tech support, the guy
i talked to was cheerily going thru the return options until he
learned i was running linux, not windows. he seemed confused since
his official records had this box running windows (pre-installed,
natch). he started to make noises about not supporting any laptops
whose OS had been replaced.
to his credit, it didn't take much to convince him that this was
*clearly* a HW problem and had nothing to do with linux, but he
sure sounded like he was going in that direction.
and it makes me wonder if i'm going to be another data point
in that list of linux users requiring tech support, even though
this had nothing to do with linux.
personally, i've soured on dell's whole relationship with linux,
and i wouldn't buy another dell.
