I would like to do this. I have a 700MHz Athlon with an ASUS board (VIA
chipset), 256MB RAM, and two IBM 20 gig drives. Running 6.2.
[root@eclipse /root]# hdparm -t /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 18.41 seconds = 3.48 MB/sec
[root@eclipse /root]# hdparm -t /dev/hdb
/dev/hdb:
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 19.22 seconds = 3.33 MB/sec
But I've seen talk of this hosing peoples' drives. Is there a
non-negligible chance it would hose mine? I could backup essential
files to another PC over the net, but I *really* don't want to reinstall
right now. Intend to wait for 7.1 (or 8.0?) before doing that again...
Thanks
