I'll wade in to this for the fun of it. One thing I would definitely do is
a kernel re-compile. The stock kernel's are a little bloated. My experience
has been that after a few re-compiles you'll get a nice compact kernel
you'll find that ram is freed up. A stock 6.2 kernel used about 30MB while
my recompiled kernel used about 17MB of RAM. Also, run the setup program
(as root) and make sure you disable things you don't need. From what you
describe below it sounds like RAM is an issue. You may also want to
consider another 64MB of RAM, its pretty cheap and makes a nice addition.

I choosed the "workstation" option.

The size is about 64 MB, same size like my RAM.

That is the maybe a problem because I am didn't measure my system in
relation to
another maschine, that my own experience. Working with the Halloween IV and
Debain 2.2. seem to have been much faster than RH 7.0. Thats all! For
example,
the uprising of menues is very low, you can almost see every step of this
process
till the final appearance. This wasn't since the installation RH 7.0 !
