Hi all,

I'm still trying to wean myself off the Windoze habit fully and setting up a
Linux workstation for a desktop machine.

Build is Sis 5326 (from memory) video card running HelixGnome. The X server
being run is the SVGA one.

Now when I am running at 800x600 paging between the virtual desktops is super
fast and the xterms scroll text faster than the eye can see.
At 1024 resolution however there is a very noticable degradation in
performance, switching is jerky and the xterms scroll quite slowly.

I am sure that last time I was playing with X I had 1280 resolution going at
a very speedy pace but that was with an S3 video card.

Is this because the SVGA driver is c**p, the video card is c**p or are there
some tweaking in the refresh rates I can do to help?
