OK, show of hands:
Who trusts Red Hat?
Who trusts ZDNet?
Red Hat has never shown themselves to be anything but firmly commited to
Free Software. I would trust no one to stick to Free Software more than
Red Hat with the exception of Debian. Other large Linux distributors
produce proprietary software for use on their Linux systems, but Red Hat
does not. Why would they change suddenly?
Also note that the end of the article to which you refer says that you
will be able to download Red Hat 7.0 for free.

What sense would that make? These lists are users supporting users. None
of the experienced users would pay for access to the lists, so you'd have
a bunch of non-experienced users asking questions and no one to answer
them.

What exactly, made you so worried? eWEEK said that Red Hat plans to sell
the service to as many customers as possible (I think they used the word
capture, but whatever...), but that's what a business does, right? They
sell their wares or services to whomever is looking to buy.

And their mirrors? Seriously. If the only updates available were via Red
Hat's official servers, they would be swamped.

I got a dollar that says nothing changes at all, just like every other
time someone gets worried that Red Hat is trying to seize power and
transmute into a great hulking M$. :)
