Yes, they have always done so, but mostly for free. eWEEK seems
to be implying that Red Hat will start insisting that we pay for
nearly everything up front. For example, by next week, we could
all be kicked out of these list servers until we came back with
our wallets and then they'd let us re-subscribe. If not, eWEEK
should be spoken to for fraudulent, or at least dangerously
inaccurate reporting.
I wouldn't care too much about being denied further access to
these lists (no offense to anyone...) but being denied free
access to bug and security patches is rather scary. I'm saying
that we *might* have to pay for access to their
ftp://updates.redhat.com.
Folks, according to that article, this new policy comes into
effect by next week. What I'd like to know is what the heck is
going to be changed exactly? Can anyone find or get access to a
detailed itinerary from Red Hat? Does it or does it not apply to
us? How are we categorized within this new policy even? Other
than us being just a bucnh of free-loading parasites/losers for
example (just kidding).

Do they have something like (kidding):
Section 21.31.99 Customer Classifications
<...>
21.31.99.821 Free Loading Losers (FLLs) with
High-Speed download connections
<...>
21.31.99.821.88 Luke C Gavel (KILLFILE)
<...>
21.31.99.913 Server-farmers (VIPs, & CEOs)
<...>
21.31.99.324 The Circus (EXPOs)
<...>
21.31.99.234 'Misc' (Linus Torvalds, Eric Raymond,
Alan Cox, etc.)
</PARODY>
