It will work, I've done it before. I certainly *wouldn't* try to run
Xsessions on it though, because it will be too slow. It would make a
nice little IPchains router, or maybe a secondary DNS server. Be very
careful with what packages you install and how you use your disc space.
You don't need a CD rom drive, just a connection to a network and a
boot disc, you can do a complete install over FTP. I've done that a
bunch of times on old Sun Sparc 2's and Sun Sparc IPX's that didn't have
CD rom drives.
