Sorry, I had to respond based upon what I saw.  You can pretty much pick
any value, except that it can't end in .0 or .255.  So something like
192.9.200.1 would be fine.

Sorry, also didn't know you were connecting via PPP.  In that case, PPP
negotiates it's number upon connection.  Use a number like I mentioned above.

Sorry, but I've never used loadlin to boot, only LILO.  If you can enter
"linux single" into loadlin somehow, that will boot you into single user.

You also don't say what version RedHat you are using.

In any event, sendmail doesn't use the IP address you give to your system.
All it does is start up and then listen on port 25.  It doesn't know what
your IP address is, not does it care.

There is something else going on here that is being missed.
