I have all hosts listed in /etc/hosts.lpd.  Like this:

192.168.1.11    weaver  weaver.emeraldbiostructures.com
192.168.1.12    ripley  ripley.emeraldbiostructures.com
192.168.1.13    jonesy  jonesy.emeraldbiostructures.com

on all machines.  Thanks,
