Make that a write-protected DOS boot disk...
This still might trigger the BIOS' virus "protection", depending on how it
determines if the boot sector has been modified.

Keep in mind that if you have NT installed, the fdisk /mbr will wipe out
booting to NT as well, as the DOS command replaces the bootsector with a
generic Win9x/DOS boot sector. If you made an Emergency Recovery Disk
(start->run->rdisk), you can recover. Keep in mind that you can't use an
ERD from another system in nearly all cases. If you don't have one, you're
probably gonna need to reinstall NT. (I'd do it to another directory, so
you get the boot files in without messing with the installed OS, then edit
the boot.ini file after you're dual booting to point back to the original
OS, then reapply the service pack of your choice to update the system
files.
Now if you're using LILO to point to NT's boot sector, you're going to be
in the same boat. If you're using NT's boot loader to point to the LILO
boot loader, do the fdisk /mbr, then lilo, then NT.
