The fact that ur modem hangs up may be due to inability to detect dial tone.
Or it may be due to wrong AT command given for modem initialization. My GVC
modem had the same problem and I solved it by giving ATX0 for
initialization. Read carefully through the manual of the modem and the AT
commands. Giving the right AT command will solve ur problem in a flash.
P.S - using netcfg is easy.
