I'm trying to make the PPP connection via modem under RH 6.1. My modem is Creative 56K external. I'v tried configuring the PPP with RP3, linuxconf as well as edit all the scripts (ppp-on, ppp-off, ppp-dialer, ppp-options, rc.local, etc) by hand. Unfortunately, none of them worked for me. The problem is, I can make the modem dial and can hear the static noise indicating connection. But after about 5 seconds, the modem hangs up automatically and dials again and again. Seems something wrong with the pppd, but I can not identify the problem. Anybody has a tip for me? Thanks. Ji Li
