I have a Celeron 500mhz with 128RAM and ATI Xpert@Play98 video
card which X runs with the Mach64 Xserver and I don't see this
problem you describe... oh yes, I use GNome, and RHL6.0 out of
the box with kernel 2.2.5-15 (older than yours).
